Fiance wants to but I think it's so weird. Ditch.

Definitely doing garter toss! I have a cool idea I came up with. My FH is a fireman and I'm going to get a pair of his bunker boots, so when he tries to get it he'll see the boots. Lol!

Ditch for sure. Have you ever heard someone saying they’re looking forward to the garter toss? I think not.

My fiancé and I both agreed that we do not want to do it.

It has been fun to read all the other no's 😂

Yeah no I think we'll be ditching this. It's always been a strange tradition to me.

Nope - big pass. I would feel way too awkward doing this...

We did the garter toss! It goes along with the bouquet toss and I'm in favor of keeping these traditions alive. They're silly and fun and people look forward to them. I do believe in keeping the garter toss classy, no head under the dress or using teeth or anything that feels inappropriate like that, but it's fun to do.

Technically I’m not tossing the garter, but yes, we’ll do this one.

I loved the idea and would like to do it but we aren't doing the big reception, its more of a small dinner.

Ditching. Just ick on all fronts to me.

I will wear a garter though, but my FH knows nothing about it. So that will be a surprise for him on the night. Smiley winking

More than likely skip it. I've only seen one time as a guest and the only ones who participated were the groom's single brothers.

Ditching, absolutely. When I was around 10 years old, I caught the bouquet at my aunt's wedding and a grown man caught the garter. Having a man I barely knew slide a garter up to just above my knee made me feel a bit weird, but everyone thought it was "cute" and totally innocent. Looking back on it now, I would have NEVER allowed that to happen. Also, at other weddings when a guy has to put the garter on a woman he barely knows, often it can be awkward and uncomfortable for one or both.

What it symbolizes, to me, is male sexual conquest over a woman. She who catches the flowers from the "deflowered" bride must then be subjected to ceremonial sexual conquest by a man who caught the garter worn by the "conquered" bride.
It's outdated, unnecessary, and uncomfortable. That's not happening at my wedding.

It makes me cringe. I have been to so many weddings were parents have had to cover children's eyes at this part. It can be so nasty, and it really isn't the time or the place, in my opinion.

On the fence leaning toward keeping it but it will be tasteful. No stripper shows as are on Youtube and definitely not putting it on the bouquet catcher..never heard of such a thing before.
