My Fiancee has several family members who have outwardly spoken their distaste for the LGBT community. I have written a letter that I want to send to them. My FMIL and FW think its TOO nice. "As you may have heard, I have recently become engaged. Becca and I have been together for quite some time now, and we both are very happy! You may be wondering why I am writing you this letter, and that is to let you know that I love you very much, and it would make me incredibly happy to see you on my special day. However, I know that this may clash with your beliefs and feelings. While I would be very happy to celebrate with you I also would never ask you to change what you believe or ask you to do something that would make you uncomfortable. That being said I would like to know if you would like to join me on my special day, your answer doesn’t change the love I have for you, it just allows me to adjust our guest list, and invitation list without"

Thank you everyone for all your comments. I'm not sending the letter. My FW and I read all of your comments and really appreciate your honesty!! Mostly my favorite part of this site is that none of you are afraid of giving an honest opinion. Not sending the letter, sending them the save the date and invite. If they choose to engage me or my FW about it after it's in them. Once again thanks ladies!!!

What I did (just sent out the STD) is I just invited them, no explanation at all. BUT what I did do is give everyone a link on the STD with the option to RSVP early, my hopes is that people that know they aren't going to come because of religious beliefs will RSVP "no" which will open up the wedding list for more fun people to invite.
