Geek Weddings?

Alyssa, on March 18, 2015 at 10:13 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

So my fiance want's to incorperate Star Wars into our wedding. He is a huge collector; hes got totes stacked higher than me full of toys and memorabilia. Our wedding isn't for a ways off but I figured I would get started getting some of the little things like the cake servers, maybe a topper, and glasses. Of course when I go to look for the cake servers with the lightsaber handles, I cannot find them anywhere! I saw them everywhere before "WE" really started planning, and now they are nowhere to be found. Not even the geek site. Any one by chance know of a place to get them (from experience)? I know that is a long shot, and some of you probably think I am nuts! lol

Try thinkgeek. They have tons of Star Wars stuff.

We did these bouts for the guys, they were easy. I made them, the florist did the flowers still: http://www.instructables.com/id/Star-Wars-Boutonnieres/

The OBB link Jennifer posted is super easy. We're going the same route and so far the hardest part was choosing what handle we actually wanted to use.

I had not thought of making them myself, Although I will definitely look into it, especially if it saves me money! Thanks! Smiley smile

Glad to know we aren't the only ones with the geek theme going lol

Oh my! I looked at one of the lightsaber handles from your link Jennifer. I think my fiancee would kill me if I took it out of a collectible case. lol! Hes a hardcore collector.

Might have to be sneaky about it. Smiley tongue

Just a thought but... are you also into Star Wars? Don't make it all about Star Wars if that's *his* thing and not yours too!

I know it's small, but we had the Throne Room Processional from the end of Episode IV as our recessional. It was a terrific recessional!

Definitely not the only ones. More and more folk are incorporating even little touches into their weddings. (I'm more of a trekkie, FH prefers Star Wars so we HAD to snag May 4th.)

At those prices, maybe see if they have any seconds which got bashed during delivery and returned. Some may have been returned due to damaged packaging but the product would still be good to use for a handle.

I am not into it like he is, but it isn't all about star wars. We are having a fall themed wedding with touches of star wars; Like the cake knife handles, table names, half of the cake, candle holders, things like that. Andd... we are adding some star wars tunes to walk to too.

I could have sworn I saw the set with the handles already made! Idk maybe ill just take a break from looking and look later. Try and focus on what I can get in the now. I plan to make a lot of the centerpieces and stuff, so Im sure if it came down to it, the handles wouldnt be too bad.

If I were you, I'd wait to buy anything. Your wedding isn't until 2017 and, peak wedding season is underway. I noticed while peeking at wedding stuff online right after fh proposed on Christmas the prices were much better. Wait for the off season, and stock up!
