Hey Aleesha, I received your email. Thank you so much. I’ll take a look at your website too. I’m currently working on ours. I need to finish it before we mail our save the dates because we’ll place the website on there for guests to go and get more info. I thought my numbers were large but wow you invited almost 300 ppl. I was a bit worried that I was sending STD’s out too soon but honestly wish I would’ve done it earlier since it is destination. I wanted to wait until our engagement shoot was done and we just did that on July 9th. I’m waiting for samples to come in the mail and I’ll choose our official STD and get them mailed by the end of August. We have about 40 ppl booked so far cause we allowed immediate family and some of our bridal party to book via the email STD from our travel agency. I’ve been planning a few things here and there with the on site coordinator Maritza but I took a break to prepare for our shoot so I’ll start emailing her again in September. Which resort did you decide to stay at? Where’s your ceremony and reception gonna be? We chose sky deck for ceremony and ballroom for reception. Are you using any outside vendors at all for anything or flying any out?

Hi Lisa! You're so welcome, please let me know if there is anything else you would like for me to send you. I couldn't even imagine planning a wedding for a place I didn't get a chance to visit. When we go we are staying at a room at generations for the first half of the time and after the wedding we are switching to a room at the casitas for our "honeymoon suite". But we are getting married at the generations property since we will have a handful of kids there. Our ceremony is on the pier, our cocktail hour is at the palapa ganesh and our reception is on the skydeck. My father owns his own production company so we will be using his videographer, photographer, and DJ (but we still need to rent the DJ equipment from the resort vendors). We are also using one of the resort vendors for their flip book station (here's a clip from the company of that https://www.instagram.com/p/BVQ6dNylnre/?igshid=d37rdh1k1a1g they also do photobooths and mirror photobooths). What about yourself?

Hey Aleesha! Sorry I’m responding like a month late. My notifications don’t always work for this app. For the 1st part of the time we’re staying at El Dorado Royale and then moving to Casitas for our honeymoon the day after the wedding. Our wedding is at Generations because of the rooftop deck but the only kids we’ll have is my nephew and his 2 nieces. We’re doing adults only or else we’d have too many ppl of we include kids too. We’re having the ceremony and cocktail reception on the rooftop deck and then the reception will be in the ballroom. Is your cocktail hour 2 hours or 1? What time does your ceremony start? You’re so lucky that your dad had his own production company. I’m sure that helps out a lot!! The flip book is cool. I haven’t added it yet but I think I’m going to do the mirror photo booth. As far as vendors go I did find a florist that works along side the resort. I hope to lock down a photographer, DJ, makeup, and hair vendors in the next 2 months. Are you getting a planner or day of coordinator?

Hey Lisa! We got the evening time slot so our ceremony starts at 5 PM and my cocktail hour is actually not an hour it l will be between 30-45 minutes, that way we can use a majority of the time for the reception. I do plan on having a day of coordinator. And I completely agree all of us who are getting married that weekend so definitely get together!

Hey Aleesha, I’m thinking of switching my start time back to 5. I pushed it to 5:30 to end at midnight but I finally hired a photographer and she gave me a timeline and suggested that we start at 5 so we can take advantage of the “Golden Hour.” Are you using your cocktail hour from the 4 hour reception or are you adding an extra hour on? Have you finished booking all your vendors yet? I still have the DJ, lighting, hair and makeup left. I hope to book them soon. Just doing a little more research on all. I found my dress last month so that was very exciting! You’re getting closer to your big day. OMG how exciting!

Hey Lisa that's actually a good question. I believe we added an extra hour for the cocktail hour but I'm not positive. I imagine our ceremony will start around 645/7. I haven't officially booked any vendors yet though I have been in touch. My goal is to have all of that set before the end of November. I do know that the DJ provides the lighting at least the company that they recommend we us does not sure about outside vendors. Yayyy for you finding your dress, I know that must feel like a big relief.

I am just starting to plan my wedding and had questions that I am sure will be answered when I each someone from the resort. How early do destination wedding need to be booked? And how expensive is it for guests to stay at Generations? I do not know realistically how many will be able to attend. It could be ten people or 50 depending on who can afford to go. Anyone want to share their experience on this process? I stayed at El Dorado Royale in the past and loved it and my fiancee has two children so I am looking into Generations which is family friendly next door.

Hi! My fiancé and I are getting married June 20, 2020 at Generations! We are having the ceremony in the Catholic chapel and reception on the Skydeck. Anyone have any tips for booking airfare for our guests? We are having about 120 guests and I have been stressing out because there are not very many airfare options for our dates and the majority of the flights have ridiculous layovers.

Hi Krista, congratulations! Sorry for the late reply. Have you figured out booking yet? If so, I’m sure I could use some advice. It’s not quite time for to start booking flights yet as all airlines aren’t open in October yet. Do you have a travel agent?

    Hi everyone,
Wow, I wish I had discovered this app and this thread a year ago. We are getting married in a few short weeks at El Dorado Royale on March 24, 2020!

We are having the ceremony on JoJo’s Deck and the reception at the Mexican Gazebo.
I am bringing our own decor but did pay the resort $300 to set up our lights and paper lanterns. I purchased centerpieces from the resort for the convenience of not having to travel with them.
I purchased personalized welcome bags and hangover kits on Etsy and filled them myself with stuff from amazon. Fun and cute!
We hired an off-resort photographer named Chio Garcia. She is Mexican-based and I love her photos. Worth it for me to pay for her to stay at the resort for 3 nights to avoid the outside vendor fee. She is sharing the room with our officiant who is a friend and flying in. (And the photographer’s fees, even with the accommodation was still cheaper than hiring a photographer the resort recommended.)
Our officiant paid for her own travel but we covered her accommodation.
No bridal party! And I am renting my bridal bouquet from Something Borrowed Blooms to save on costs.
I am getting my hair and makeup done at the resort! UGH — not ideal but fingers crossed 🤞.
Hard to have picked venues and decor without ever being on the site or seeing the location. But at this stage everything is done and paid for and we just get to enjoy! Hope you are all experiencing the same. I read all the comments in this thread. Thanks for sharing, everyone.

The rate depends on a lot of factors. Your dates of travel, when you book, your travel agent, the room types, etc. Our lowest rate was $545 for 3 nights but we booked from Feb last year.

Hey Lisa!! So glad to hear that your wedding is still proceeding as planned. We ended up having to postpone our wedding because our flights were canceled and the resort was closed. We are now scheduled to get married on February 21, 2021. How is the planning going for you?
