Georgia Summers

Lucy, on February 5, 2020 at 12:56 PM Posted in Georgia Planning 0 5
Hello Ladies! FH and I set our date for this June in Savannah, GA. But now it’s looking like we may have to push to July or August. I am from Florida and I know how hot our summers can be.

Does any know how hot GA gets in the summer? Should I wait until Fall? We are having an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception.

I'm from SC and have been to both GA and FL during the summer before and it has always been either a blistering or very humid heat. Personally, I would wait until the fall. July and August are the hottest months of the year and I know GA will still be very hot.

I think fall would be better or do the ceremony indoors. Having fans and ice water is ok, but I have seen a groomsman faint before and I wouldn’t want that to happen to someone else! Plus the bugs are worse and it’s really not fun to be swatting bugs during a wedding ceremony.

Would the outdoor ceremony be in the shade? I think in GA the July temperatures get up to 90 on average with humidity, then August is pretty similar. If the ceremony was VERY short, in the shade, and you provided things for guests like fans & cold drinks, I think you'd be fine.

Hey there, Lucy! Some great insights from the PPs. Have you thought any more about when to have the wedding?
