Get makeup done the night before engagement photoshoot

Kat, on August 26, 2019 at 10:55 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6

We plan to have our engagement photoshoot in Aspen which is 3 hours drive from our house. Our photographer recommended us to leave by 6am (the earlier the better) so I have to get my makeup and hair done before that.

Since I barely know how to do makeup, I definitely will have it done. I contacted several makeup artists but either they live too far from me or the cost is too high (which is understandable because of the early hour). I consider getting my makeup done the night before, and try not to mess it up while sleeping. A touch up on the lips after brushing is something I can do.

Had any bride done this before or is there a better solution?

Eek, I'm not sure if I would rely on your makeup not getting messed up while sleeping, especially if it's a full face. I don't really have much in terms of an idea for an alternative, but I would hate for you to spend that money only to have it ruined when you wakeup and have no idea what to do right before your pictures.

I'd be really worried about sleeping in makeup. Could you stay the night before closer to Aspen and have someone there do your hair and makeup early? If that doesn't work, I'd consider watching a lot of youtube tutorials or going somewhere to get some pointers - a place like Sephora could provide suggestions and show you how to do it yourself.

That wouldn't work for me. I'd look dry & smudged in the morning if I wore makeup overnight, plus I would want to wash my hair and shower.

It seems like a bad idea then. I guess I will need to pay more for the makeup artist.

Are you doing photos at 9 in the morning? Can you have your photos done at a different time? They say the hour before sunset is the best lighting.

Our photographer said the best time to take photos is in the couple hours after sunrise. Because he got experience taking photos in Aspen, I have not asked him about other time of the day. Great suggestion though. I will ask him later.
