getting a dress altered to hide armpit fat?

soon to be..., on September 18, 2009 at 8:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Hi all --- my dress is strapless and I, like many women, have little fat pockets (not the proper term) like in my armpits. I know a strapless dress has to be tight in the waist to stay up, but does having the dress sit higher up help with hiding the armpit far? Or is it better to go lower so that it's not being pinched? Just wondering if anyone had any experience, since I think alot of us have a bit o' armpit fat and no one wants it to be the star of the weddingSmiley surprise)--- any thoughts/experience are greatly appreciated!

LOL! I too am a sufferer of "armpit fat!" My dress is strapless and corseted in the back, so that has helped with the "armpit fat" because we can control just how tight the dress is around my upper torso. Maybe trying on/purchasing a dress in that style would be helpful to you. It's worth a shot!

You should definitely wear it higher and looser. The best is if the back is tied, that way you can have it tight in the waist and loosen it the higher you go, so it doesn't dig into your armpit and can cover that area. You should also look into a quality bra that can lessen the effect.

Wearing a big necklace will also divert the eye from that area and no one will notice.

That's why I didn't go strapless - I hate my chicken fat in that area !! I got a wide halter dress that hides most of mine. But yes, the right bra will work best to make the problem less noticeable.

I'd definitely say go with a proper fitting dress, one that's not too tight around the top. If it's too snug then we get those FABULOUS bulges in places we'd rather not! A corset back dress is good for this because you can control how tight the top is.

Try useing a FABULOUS bra that move that to the front and gives you added bust line. (i need the help in the bust). I know you will look just FABULOUS on your day.

Every woman has this "fat". It is not fat it is skin! I was a swimmer my whole life. I was as fit as you can get, and in my speedo we called it "cute fat". Everyone has it so don't worry about it :o)

Yes don't worry about it. you can always use your veil to hide or a shawl/bolero later on. just make sure it's not too tight at the very top
