My other half want's to get me a new engagement ring. Is that going to be bad luck?

Found out the ring he gave me that's from my great great grandma is fake! Hes upset and wants to get me a new one. Has this happen to anyone else Smiley sad

Not everyone believes the same superstitons. Whether or not you think it's bad luck is really up to you.

Personally, I don't believe in objects bringing good or bad luck. If you want a better quality ring, go for it!

I don't think that's true at all! I am literally on ring #3 right now hahaha.

First one was CZ because FH wanted to propose with a ring but wanted me to pick out the "real" one on my own (but I wore the CZ one for like 2 months before we had a chance to go shopping)

Second one we picked out together. I was measured by the store and told I was a size 5. Wore this ring for 9 months, and thought I was crazy because it always felt HUGE. I shouldn't have waited 9 months lol, but I eventually got the ring re-measured and found out it was a size 6, and that particular ring could not be sized below a 6 without damaging the ring. UGH.

Luckily the store let us return the ring because they admitted they screwed up in selling me a ring that didn't (and couldn't!) fit. We went to a different store, and got my third (and hopefully last, LOL) ring. We got it custom made so it was exactly what I had always wanted. It feels like "my ring" MUCH more than the other one we had picked out did... I was really upset to part with the ring I had worn for 9 months and had grown emotionally attached to, but I know it was the right decision and I'm so happy with my new ring Smiley smile (Also discovered I was actually a 4.5 the entire time -.-)

You just have to do what works best for you!!

That's understandable, I would want to get you a new ring too. My FH swears he's going to get me a bigger ring one of these day but I love mine. This represents a tough point for he and I and how we got through it together. So we agreed that for a big anniversary such as 10 year we'll come back to the idea.

I don't think it's bad luck at all! My mom lost the stone out of hers while she was engaged and they hadn't bought insurance (yes dumb) so they had to get a whole new band and they have happily been married 27 years.

I don't believe in "bad luck". I believe all things happen for a reason, good or bad.

I'm on my second ring because I had a romantic idea for my first ring that didn't work out well. I wanted a ring that had both my and my fiance's birthstones on it. My birthstone is diamond, his is emerald. It turns out that emeralds are softer stones that cannot withstand daily wear. I had my original engagement ring only a few months and two of the emeralds got chipped. I was so sad! We ordered an all- diamond engagement ring and let my kids help design it. It's very special because my kids put their love into creating it.

I'll get my emerald & diamond original ring fixed to wear for special occasions. I'd suggest saving your fiance's Great- grand's ring for special occasions too. Who cares if it's fake? It's special.

I dont think its bad luck at all! My fh bought me a cheap ring, about 6 months after wearing it the band broke! He bought me the perfect ring from an actual jeweler the 2nd time around and its perfect.
