Getting Addresses

Hey Ladies!


I was collecting addresses to send out save the dates. I was not super close to my paternal uncle but close enough to send an invite. He is many state away but I wanted him the chance. I messaged him a nice message on Facebook messenger explaining that I know times are different because of COVID and that he is many states away but that I would love his addresses ( and his kids) so I could sent them an invitation if they would wish to come. I saw that he read the message, but no response. Nothing. I am hurt by this but maybe thinking it was an oversight... or he just forgot, but I'm not totally convinced.

Do you think I should end another message asking if he saw it? Or just take it as he does not want to come. I am confused by the whole thing.

    When did you message him? Maybe he saw it and forgot to responsible. Does your dad have his address that you could ask him? I know my mother-in-law provided addresses for pretty much everyone on her side of the family.

    I mean, people do get busy so it is possible that they forgot, but if you want to try again to message him it wouldn't hurt. If the same thing happens again it might just be that they're not super interested in coming but don't know how to say that. Really there's any number of things it could be. If you really want to send an invitation despite that you could see if any other family members have his address but either way I wouldn't stress over it too much.

    Yes my dad probably will, I just thought reaching out was more personal. I messaged him last Tuesday.

    Send a follow up phone call in that case. Not everyone answers texts but they will respond to a call.

    Give it a few days then message again .. i had 3 people that saw my message the day i sent it but they never replied i sent a more direct message and 2 of the 3 replied right away.. life is crazy right now... give them some more time

    Pick up the phone and call him. Or have your dad do it. Don't rely on social media for soemthing like this.

    I wouldn't take it personally.

    This happens to everyone - getting addresses is so hard!

    I know sometimes I get messages and just completely forget to respond... this actually made me remember to respond to one. Ooops.
