Just Said Yes October 2021

Getting Ahead of Myself

Hi all! I have a wedding date set for October 8, 2021, and my guest list will probably change depending on what COVID is like at that point. I've been really excited about planning recently since my work hours have been cut dramatically and I won't be going back to school until next semester.

My question is: Do you think looking at decorations at this point is too early? (11 months)
I already have an AirBNB venue, and since food will be completely DIY I've written out a list of what each item on the ideal menu would cost. Looking at all the checklists and guides online, I'm not really sure what the next step is. We have an idea of who we want for most vendors and I'm starting to see some Black Friday decor and tablecloth sales online... do you think it would be worth it to start collecting now? Most guides I've seen don't really mention when to start prepping decor!

Thank you and best of luck in your planning!

If you have the time and money now, it's probably best. Once you go back to school, you'll have a lot less free time.

    Good luck!

I would definitely prioritize hiring vendors over buying decor. You need to book them ASAP. October is already the most popular wedding month, plus with couples postponing because of covid, vendors are probably booked up years in advance.

Yes, hire vendors first. Though with your hours being cut and depending on your financial situation, it may be better to do everything DIY.

Hire the venders first & at the same time snatch up those sales! You have the time & money now. I did that for my bridesmaids gift bags. Bought a little each month so I didn’t get socked all at once.

I didn't think Airbnb were allowing weddings at this time. Vendors should definitely be a priority. October is a very popular wedding month and with people postponing their weddings until next year a lot of vendors may already be booked. However, if you do for find a really good deal I would go for it.

I bought a lot of stuff early and it was easier to spread out the expenses as much as you can, also somethings will randomly be out of stock for weeks or a month or two and the closer to you wedding that you are the harder it becomes. You don't have to expedite anything for shipping.

It's definitely not too early for decorations, I actually would suggest getting stuff out of the way so you won't put out a bunch of money at once
