Getting dress cleaned after wedding

Lauren, on October 19, 2017 at 2:16 PM Posted in Married Life 0 10

So my dress has been sitting in the bag in my closet since the wedding...how soon after did you bring yours to be cleaned?

Did you just go to a local cleaners or how did you find where you brought it?

My mom brought her dress to be cleaned after the wedding and they lost it...don't want that to happen with a place I am not familiar with! I was thinking of calling the bridal store I brought it from to see if they had any recommendations?

Thanks!

There's a dry cleaners in my city that specializes in cleaning and preserving wedding dresses. It took a while for me to get an appointment (they go over the dress with you to see how much cleaning it needs) because their voicemail wasn't working. I am supposed to pick up the cleaned dress today, but I think I want to get it preserved now (which involves an unsealed acid-free box). I thought I was going to sell it or donate it, but I'm struggling with the idea of getting rid of it.

I took it to the same place I had it altered. They were also recommended by my bridal salon so it worked out. I would make sure the place I read reviews and it's a location that has experience cleaning wedding dresses. Not all places are good at it.

I haven't cleaned mine yet. Really slacking. Sooo expensive to just get one cleaned and mine didn't even get that dirty.

My bridal shop recommended Wedding Gown Preservation Co and gave me a lot to mail my dress to them to clean and preserve. I'm not sure if I will use them yet but it is an option

I have been told to check groupon for mine. Just research the company.

I've shoved mine in the back of my closet because it got soooo dirty. My bustle broke right after dinner and I was walking around barefoot in the grass and holy shit its bad. I'm scared what its going to cost me.

@Corrine, right there with you! I still haven't cleaned mine. I plan to go to the local cleaners but I was so glad for all wedding prep to be finished that I never got around to it yet.
