Getting Guest Photos

Brittany, on April 5, 2019 at 1:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Happy Friday everyone!!!! One thing that showed up on my "to do" list is to choose how I plan to get guest photos. I didn't really think about this before. Do people actually tell their guests to download an app to share photos from the day? I was just thinking Facebook/Instagram would be a good way to see what photos guests have taken...are you planning to set up a different way for guests to share photos?

This is why people use hashtags. Then you can just search the hashtag and they’ll pop up. I’m planning to have a sign with our hashtag at the reception.

Yes, this is why everyone is frantically searching for a cute hashtag. When your guests take pictures on their phones during the reception, they can upload them using the hashtag you have picked. Then afterward, you can search for all the photos under that hashtag.

I'm not very tech savvy myself, so my daughter is setting this up for me. Smiley smile

That's what I was thinking too, just having a hashtag. I think it's way overboard to ask guests to share photos through an app!

I put a little blurb in our wedding welcome pamphlet that says "Please text or email us any pictures from this weekend!". If anyone posts them, we will be tagged I'm sure. We aren't doing a hashtag, I don't think I follow all our guests & dates on all forms of social media so we wouldn't see the private profile's posts even if they hashtagged.

Almost all of our guests are facebook friends of either myself or my husband. 99% of the pictures our guests took were on Facebook, Instagram, whatever before the weekend was over. We didn't do a # at all, and still managed to wrangle the photos. After the weekend was over I had posted something like "love seeing all of the pictures you all took! Feel free to send us any that you didn't post!" And had a lot of extras sent right to me - like grandma's, friends of my mom who don't do Facebook, etc. Even one of my aunts who brought her own actual camera (talking film-style, not even digital) sent me a physical copy of her pictures.

A photo sharing app is nice, but definitely not necessary. A # is a plus, but if you don't have one, it's no big deal. If you and your guests are fairly active on social media, one way or another the photos will probably get to you Smiley smile

Hashtag then just simply looking at your friends and families' instagrams and facebooks for their posts if they forget to use the hashtag! Often times people tag the bride or groom in the pics or post on fb!

Sooo I’m not sure what the app is called BUT there is an app out there that guest can download and take pictures on and then you can sign in and see them ALL there Smiley smile some of the “older” guests might not have social media
