Getting Married during Saturday Mass?

Ashley, on November 3, 2019 at 1:04 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5
Has anyone ever done or attended a catholic wedding during regular mass? Do to timing with the reception site, our only option to get married in the Catholic Church during the afternoon was to have our wedding during a regular Saturday Mass. The church encouraged it and once we met with the deacon he was telling us how it is busy during mass on Saturday afternoons, and we wouldn’t be able to choose readings, etc. I was just wanted anyone’s take on this so I know what to expect! Thank you!

The priest at the church we are getting married at said we could get married at 1:00pm before Saturday mass or 5:30 after Saturday mass. He highly recommended the 5:30. He never mentioned doing it during mass.

Same here (though our option times were 1:30 and 6:30). I personally wouldn’t do a public mass. Despite the flak given on this site for having a gap, we are doing as minimal of a gap between the ceremony as we can but still having a gap. Our reception will then end earlier than most and we will have go to an after party spot, if we and the guests aren’t too tired Smiley smile.

I am not Catholic so we will be doing a catholic ceremony as opposed to a full catholic mass. That makes it a little easier to do a later service time.

Yeah because we are doing a full mass and the option in the evening was 6:30, we felt that was just too late. 5:30 I think would have worked better!

We are doing ours at 130p.m., which is as late as the church allowed so they could prepare for 4 p.m. mads
