Getting Pictures Back

Paige, on November 1, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Married Life 0 24
We got married September 21st, and still haven’t received any photos back. How long does it usually take, and do I say something? If so, what do I say exactly?

I got married on September 28th. I haven't received any photos either. I do follow my photographer on Instagram and he has been in Iceland, Germany, Italy and France since my wedding for a destination wedding. He just got back yesterday. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's really busy and will get them to me within the contract time.

I would check your contract, some photographers list up to 3 months for photos. If they are over the contract time just send a nice email saying you are really excited to see photos from your wedding. Also check your spam folder, sometimes emails with links get sent to spam.

The norm I've seen is up to 8-12 weeks, I would check to see if it's mentioned in your contract. If it's past the promised date, just email to check on the status.

We got married 9/7 and didn't get our sneak peeks until 10/5 and are still waiting for full gallery. They should be coming any day now though. As others have said, check your contract, it should give a guideline. There's also no harm in reaching out asking for an ETA on photos. I would just word it as that though, "Hello, just wondering if there was any estimate on when I'd be getting my photos back" and not asking where your photos are.

Ours took 4 weeks, but I imagine photographers are swamped right now with peak wedding season. What does your contract say for turn around times?

Well, we actually didn’t have a contract. She does all of our photos, and usually gets them back the next day. I messaged her last Wednesday and she said the end of the week. It’s now the end of the next week. I don’t know if I should say something again, but I don’t want to be annoying.

I mean considering that she didn't guarantee them to you by a certain date, I wouldn't keep pestering her about it unless multiple months had gone by with no updates/sneak peeks.

Remember she needs to go through thousands of photos and she may not be taking that many photos on your other occasions. Life gets in the way as well. I’m sure she had other weddings, and this isn’t a ridiculous amount of time that has gone by. I would give some more time.

Depends what she said in her contract. If that wasn’t mentioned, you could definitely reach out now and just say you’re super excited and ask when you can expect them. My photographer said 2-3 weeks and we got them I think 17 days after so it was right on time in that window. But I also know 2-3 weeks is a VERY fast turnaround time... most photographers I hear take a month or two.

I definitely don’t think there’s harm in asking once for an estimate of when you can expect them, if timing wasn’t mentioned prior. I wouldn’t recommend pestering them about it lol but asking once never hurt. And if it seems like it’ll be a while, I think it’d be reasonable to ask for a sneak peek or two. Smiley smile

Have you received sneak peeks? We got 5 sneak peek photos by the following mornin and a 68 photo sneak peek gallery one week later. The rest off our photos are due 6-8 weeks after our wedding date per our contract. I would check your contract. But I would think you would have at least been sent some sort of sneak peeks by this point!!!

I got married on September 14th and haven't gotten my photos back yet. Our photographer had a 10 week turnaround time in contract, so we should have them before Thanksgiving!

I got married on September 14th and haven't received anything. I texted her 2 weeks ago and she said she was on a 4-7 week turn around and had just finished the wedding she shot the week before ours. I am super antsy to see them, I haven't even gotten a sneak peek!

I think three months is standard. It can take a while to touch up photos and get them to look just right. They also are most likely working on other photos as well, not just yours. With a good photographer the pics are worth the wait.

Our contract said between 2 to 4 weeks. I an so antsy to see ours but with it being peak wedding season I won't bother him unless it hits over the contract time. Since you didn't have a contract, I would wait a couple more weeks to ask again.

It should specify in the contract that you had with the photographer. Ours stated 8 weeks, but it depends on the photographer

We got married Sept 22nd and got all our pictures back in 3 days. Had a photo shoot on our honeymoon (different state, different photographer) and got those back in 3 days as well.

My contract says within 1-3 months. We got our engagement pics on October 6th - they said it would be about 8 weeks until we got them back. It definitely sucks waiting Smiley cry

But I would definitely recommend checking your contract because every photographer is different!
