Getting Ready: At Your Venue? Or Offsite?

Lisa, on October 6, 2021 at 1:11 PM Posted in Planning 1 34
Where are you getting ready at on your wedding day? Does your venue offer a space? Or are you going offsite (hotel, your house, salon, etc)?

When we first visited our venue they said they had plans to renovate the office space for a bridal suite. So we will either use that or my mom's house.

I went to a salon for my hair and then got ready at my bridesmaid's house with my bridesmaids

Im getting ready at a hotel nearby since the venue will only allow us to arrive 3 hours before the ceremony. My FH will finish getting ready, hang with friends and start family photos at the venue before I arrive for the first look!

We're not able to arrive to our venue until 1.5 hours before the ceremony, so I'll be getting ready at a hotel 5 minutes away, FH still hasn't decided where him and the groomsmen will get ready but I'm thinking his parents house since his parents live closer to our venue than we do

We are getting ready on site at the venue as it has a bridal and groom suite, super excited!

FH will be getting ready at an airbnb with his groomsmen.

Our venue has a 1 bedroom bridal suite for me.

Very cool! I've always wondered if most people get ready onsite or not. For all the weddings that I've been a part of, we got ready at a hotel and then took a limo to the venue (which didn't have a bridal suite). However, all the venues I looked at for my wedding had bridal suites to get ready onsite, and my bridesmaids and I will get ready at my venue. Your venue must have had enough requests for a bridal suite for them to add one, that's awesome!

I love the idea of going to the salon! The salons are all at least a 20-30 minute drive from my venue, otherwise I would have considered going to a salon for hair/makeup instead of having them come to the venue.

That makes sense! 3 hours early is perfect for the guys to get ready and hang out there, though (depending on number of bridesmaids) probably wouldn't be enough time for hair/makeup. A hotel is a good idea!

I'm getting ready at the hotel that our venue has a partnership with and has our room block for guests. I just booked my suite last night! The bridesmaids are pretty much on their own. We have a small suite at the venue, but it's more of a rest area. There would barely be enough room for one person to get ready in it, let alone five.

We're getting our makeup done at my mother-in-law's then heading to my bridal suite to get dressed.

A hotel is convenient! Especially since it's so close to your venue.

A bridal suite and a groom's suite?! That's so awesome that they provide separate spaces for both! From what I've seen, many venues only offer the bridal suite (if they offer a space at all). Sounds like you booked an awesome venue!

Ooh, an Airbnb is a good idea! Often cheaper than a hotel, and more space.

Great idea, and super convenient! Saves money on a hotel room, and no risk of forgetting to bring anything with for getting ready. And more comfortable than a hotel or bridal suite lol.

Definitely lucky that you were able to get in right away! Great advice on making an appointment ahead of time to guarantee timing!

Awesome that your venue has a partnership with a hotel! I totally understand on the small bridal suites, one of the venues we toured (but didn't book) had a very small room available for a bridal suite, though I think it was intended to just be for storing purses/coats/etc for the bridal party, rather than for getting ready/hair/makeup/photos/etc.

That's how ours is. It will likely ultimately be a storage room more than anything else, and when I say storage, I mean a place where the bridesmaids and I can hide/charge our phones until the reception.
