Getting ready for the big day location.. hotel or venue?

Renee, on June 14, 2018 at 10:29 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 3

Hey everyone! I'm getting married in August and FH and I recently met with our consultant. We have the option to get ready at the venue - we have the suites for three hours no charge but it would be an additional fee per hour if we wanted to go in earlier. With five bridesmaids, a flower girl, and myself, I feel like we would definitely need more than the 3 hours they allot for us. Do I suck it up and pay extra or book a suite at the hotel where we have our block and get ready there? We're not getting a limo so it would likely be one of the bridesmaids driving to the venue from the hotel if we go that route. Thoughts? Thank you! Smiley smile

I would book a hotel for the night before and the night of the wedding. You can stay there the night before with some of your BP or just relax alone, then you and FS can come back there the night of the wedding.

I think it's totally up to you! Are the suites at the venue set up in a way that would make it possible for you to avoid seeing your fiance until you're ready to be seen?

I'm thinking about the same thing now and considering what this would do to our transportation. Since our wedding is in the early evening, we need to be checked into our hotel room that same day, so we will probably book 2 nights in the hotel anyway. Remember to consider how your bridal party will get from the hotel to the venue and back (will they be drinking that night? Should they Uber back to the hotel?) And maybe you can all share a ride to the venue whether you get ready there or not!

Hi Renee! Welcome to the WeddingWire Community! Smiley ring I would just compare rates and see if it would work out more affordable to book the hotel suite. You never know how long it might take to get ready, and if there are additional fees for arriving early, it could end up costing you a lot. I would also consider which accommodation would be more comfortable for you and your guests! I hope you're able to figure this out!! Good luck!!
