Getting ready on my own

Katie, on August 9, 2019 at 10:32 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
I don't know why but I'm struggling with the plan so far of getting ready the morning of. All my bridesmaids will be doing their own hair ( keeping it simple) and doing their own makeup due to cost. They all have to travel for the wedding and I didn't want the extra expense and neither did they. My problem is I want to be pampered that morning by having someone else do my hair and makeup. I know no one personally that I can ask do it and do a good job so I'm going with a salon that was recommended to me by my photographer. They won't come to the hotel though where all my bridesmaids will be getting ready. Is it weird that I'll be getting ready at a different location than them? Any suggestions?

They can’t come with you to the salon? And then finish up there stuff when you guys get to the hotel? But honestly, I would look at having a HMUA come to you so you can be at the hotel with them while still feeling pampered. That will also take away the hassle of traveling to and from a salon.

Daughter and I went to the HMUA's salon for our hair & make-up. The BMs got ready together elsewhere and then met us back at the house for an early lunch and "getting ready pictures." Both time and cost resulted in it not making sense for all the girls to get ready together. (Daughter and I had to leave for HMUA appointments at 6:45 am for a 3:30 wedding ceremony....)

It could work with a bit of scheduling. Is it possible to go to the salon before your girls meet up with you? Your hair and makeup would already be done, but usually not everyone gets hair and makeup at the same time anyway. Then you could still all get dressed together and you could have them help you with your veil and accessories. It may be cheaper to go to the salon and some stylists only travel if there are a certain number of clients.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Katie!

Do you know what time your BMs will be arriving at your venue (or wherever you will be getting ready)? Would it be possible for your hair and makeup appointment to be scheduled for earlier so that you will not miss out on getting ready time with your girls?

You could also look into other HMUAs that actually do travel so that you can get pampered by your girls while having your makeup and hair down.

That being said, if you are happy with the hair and makeup artist that you have booked an appointment with, and do not mind meeting up with your girls later, then that’s fine! It’s all about what you are comfortable and happy with!!
