Getting ready room

Andie, on September 22, 2017 at 11:24 PM Posted in Married Life 1 22

So I'm trying to figure out where my bridesmaids and I should get ready. I'm thinking a hotel room would be easiest since my apartment is so small and I'm not allowed to get ready at the church. Check out is at 11am but the wedding isn't until 3pm so I'm planning on booking for both myself the night before and for FH and I the night of. Do you think having the extra counters and mirrors are that important?

Where are you getting ready? Maybe I'm not thinking of somewhere great.

Is it possible to do it at the salon? If you're going to get hair/makeup done they may have a place to get dressed

I did exactly what you are thinking of doing - getting a hotel room for two nights. It was nice having a place for everyone to come and get ready. Then we all went to the venue to put our dresses on.

We booked one of the conference rooms at our hotel. We were able to use it all day. It was easy because they had tables and chairs already set up for us. We also set up lunch and the snacks in there. The groom was the only one not allowed in so one of his groomsmen brought him food lol.

I bought 3-4 full length mirrors ($5 at Wal-Mart). We pulled tables up next to the wall and turned the mirrors on their side and leaned them against the wall. We could have 2-3 girls all using one mirror to touch up their make-up or do whatever they needed. It was also nice because if anyone needed to see themselves full length wise they didn't have to walk all the way to the bathroom.

One thing I've learned from past weddings I've been in or been around you will want a bigger space than you think you need to get ready in. One wedding I was in tried to fit 7 girls in a hotel room that had 1 king size bed, a couch, a big bathroom, and one small table. It was a nightmare because everyone's stuff was everywhere.

We will probably use the bridal suite, since our wedding is at the hotel. Our package offers a get ready room though in case we want something different. We are using the hotel as a venue so everything will be in the same place! Super convenient.

Depending on how many people are getting ready I'd go with the bridal suite. We paid almost $380 for our suite and the size made it comfortable for all of us and the HMUA to move around. Anything smaller would have been a hassle. We had everyone's dresses and my veil steamed by concierges. We had a whole island of food and we had a small bar set up. It was the most relaxing part of the day and it was worth the splurge.

I would choose the bridal suite if you can afford it. We booked a hotel suite that the bridesmaids and I were going to get ready in, but at the last minute I changed my mind. My husband and I switched who was getting ready at the hotel and who was getting ready at our house. I was worried the suite would not be big enough as it was a pretty small suite with a tiny bathroom. Our house is bright and open, but it was still overwhelming with me, three bridesmaids, my 12 yo niece, my 2 yo niece, three hair stylists, one makeup person, two moms, and one photographer. Then my dad, uncle, and brother showed up for a bit. It was pretty claustrophobic. Come to find out that my husband had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite when he checked in, which actually is bigger than our house. Oh well. At least I got to stay there on our wedding night. It was REALLY nice.

We're getting ready at the venue and hair and makeup will also be on location. I think it's definitely worth the extra mirrors and counter space!

We are having our reception at a hotel and they are providing the bridal suite for two nights and adjoining prep room. It's a double sized room with a big dining set, couches, mirrors, and kitchenette.

See if the hotel offers anything else too. It's always better to have too much space than not enough!

I think it's a great idea. It is worth the peace of mind it's going to offer you. We are going to be in a hotel room the night before and the night of. It's 5 minutes from our venue. Worked out perfect

My venue has a bridal suite, so we'll be there. We're the only event that day, so we have the suite all day.

I am getting reservations for two nights at a fancy schmancy hotel for getting ready, and the night of our wedding. It is really big and spacious, has a seating area, king bed, huge bathroom, and another lounge bed. All of us girls will get ready there. My house getting messy stresses me out, so there is no way I could get ready there.

We used my MIL's condo, which had lots of bright natural light which was something our HMUA was concerned about. i've been in weddings where we've gotten ready in hotel rooms too and it worked really well.

We got ready at the hotel, in a two bedroom suite. I stayed there Friday night and then my husband and I stayed there on the wedding night. I really appreciated the extra space and two bathrooms!

We got ready in a suite at the Inn & Spa we were married at. Plenty of outlets, mirrors and space for everyone's things. I recommend the hotel!

We're planning to get ready at my parents' house. They have a large screened-in patio where several chairs can be set up, or plenty of room inside if it's hot that day.

I thought I'd put my dress on at our venue's bridal suite, but now I think it will be at my parents' house.
