Getting the Food to the Reception

Before we were even engaged, my FH and I decided we wanted chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, and tons of gravy at our wedding. None of the caterers in the area would do that for us, so we're going to order party platters from a local chicken restaurant. The problem is that they don't deliver. The place is 30 min away from our venue, so that's at least an hour of driving. I want the food to be as fresh as possible, so I don't want to pick it up before the ceremony. We did hire servers for when the food arrives, but I can't think of a good way to get the food there! It will either have to sit a while under heat lamps, or I'll have to ask someone to go pick it up. I'm worried that could seem offensive.

Has anyone else dealt with getting your own food? Or does anyone have ideas for ways to pick it up?

    Panda express.

No. That's hangover food, not real food.

If my 4 year old refuses to eat "fresh" fast food chicken tenders because it doesn't taste like real food I highly doubt your guests are going to be thrilled about eating soggy chicken tenders just because you have a vision. If any part of your "vision" involves your guests actually enjoying themselves consider this idea for the rehearsal and serve real food for your reception FFS. Also, to answer your question, we have left weddings before over the food choices. Did we care about the couple less when we left? No. Did we side eye the hell out of their decision to serve fast food, pot-lucked food or gas station pizza to their guests? Fuck yes we did. I have severe food allergies that prevent us from eating overly processed food and DH learned the hard way after a potluck wedding last year that you don't eat things that aren't kept at the proper temperature 100% of the time. Since you won't read actual advice though maybe you could just say fuck it to the food needing to come from Golden Chick. We all know McDonald's food can be left out for years and still look fine. Just go pick up some McNuggets so you can save money on cheap food and proper food handling. Everyone knows that the only game you should play at a wedding is digestive tract roulette.

This post has been amazing. A perfect combo of good (ignored) advice, snark, memes and white knights. Glad it was never flagged and glad the OP didn't hide it. It was a great start to the day!

Excuse me. Chicken fingers and gravy is not a 'vision".

I'm SO happy this is how my day started.

OP: as the other women have stated it's not your meal that is a bad idea it's the execution. Even at its best you know there is a reason NO caterer will do this for you. Look at food trucks, look at caterers, and please consider adding other options. I would be SO salty if I showed up with a great gift and got a happy meal. Yes your guests love you but, it should be about properly hosting the majority, not just the adult children.

Also, thank you for not hiding this lol
