Getting your groom to attend a bridal show

Cydney J (Cydney M), on April 25, 2012 at 11:53 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

One Wed had a great article on how to help convince your groom to attend a bridal show with you...so I thought I'd share it with you ladies!

Have you or would you bring your groom with you to a bridal show?

If not...why?

Do you want your groom to go with you to bridal shows?

If yes...did he enjoy it?

I always considered bridal shows a thing to do with your mom and bridal party...thoughts?

DH actually went to one with me last weekend, it was great! We met with some amazing vendors (which we probably won't use, but would love to haha), got to taste food and drinks provided by our own caterer, got free ice cream and other such things! I wouldn't drag him to the Seattle Wedding Expo because even I tend to get bored at those.. but the smaller shows tend to be a bit more unique and interesting.. I didn't need to convince him at all. He heard "free food and drinks" and was in! haha

I had no inclination to go to bridal shows myself (and I had no groom), so that took care of the issue. However, I'm a big believer that a wedding should reflect both people who are getting married. So I really wouldn't have wanted to attend a wedding-related event without my partner.

I had no problem bringing my groom. He wanted to be there as it's his wedding too! He wanted to be involved with selecting the photographer and our cake. I think he actually had fun! We probably went to 4 together and I went to two with my mom.

Some shows actually have a section for the guys where they can look at limos, cigar rollers, tuxes, etc.

My FH wanted to go with my to one of the two bridal shows, but he did got to both of them. The first he wasn't to keen on because he thought it was going to be a bunch of women, but when he got there he was fine with it because he seen other guys there. The second was at our venue so we got to taste their food and of course they had an open bar (I think that is the only reason he wanted to go).

My FH and I went to one together, and I think we were both kind of overwhelmed at how crowded it was. We ate some catering samples and got out of there- not our scene! He went with me willingly though, no convincing needed.

It's so great to hear so many grooms wanted to go and attended! There wasn't a wedding expo/show during the time I got engaged to the time we got married...so I couldn't get him to attend. But I did go to one last weekend to browse around and to see my videographers first vendor booth and give them support...and DH came with me! He didn't stay long...but he went without complaints which was really nice...plus, I think he liked grabbing some free tastes Smiley smile

My FH works weekends so he wasn't able to go. He has been heavily involved in most of the planning process so I am sure that he would have gone if he could have.

As far as the shower goes I told him I didn't really want him to come. He was fine with that (again works weekends so he couldn't come any way). I wanted some time with my girls. I wouldn't mind if he had stopped by when the shower was wrapping up to say hello and hang out for a bit though!

I have only been to two bridal shows. Once for my sister's wedding in 2010, her mother/sister in law and my mom and I went, and one a couple a months after I got engaged, my mother, sister and new nephew joined (everyone loved the baby). I really wanted to go to the show last wekend, but couldnt find anyone free so my FI said he would go (even though I think he was just saying that). I thought that it would be nice to include him in on the process so he knows what is going on. I will have to get him to go to the next one.

I semi-dragged him to one in January since my sister/MOH couldn't go. I knew we needed to get going on lining up vendors and between his grad school and my work, we'd not put enough thought into the wedding planning since last August. He's a practical guy, so when I presented it as "All the vendors we need to book will be there in one place and we can taste their food/see their portfolios/interact w/ them to see if we dig their vibe" he was pretty much on board. Still asked for a time limit, though.

FH and I went to the bridal show in January. We actually went there with a specific purpose of talking to people about what the guys are wearing, ice cream cakes and a few other things. Since these all concern him, he was more then willing to go and actually asked if I wanted him to come, since I was originally going to go by myself (mom, MOH and BM all live at least 3 hrs or more away).

It was super easy for me i just told him i wanted to go and asked if he wanted to come. he (like most guy's) thought it was a girls only thing i told him half of the people there are male. which is true. and he asked if i have been before i told him i had ben to a lot of them and i told him about how much i love it all the attention and free candy and other misc. free stuff they give out. then a week or so later he bought tickets to every upcoming bridal show in town that was before our date!!!

There was a huge bridal expo (it comes every year) this year it was on Superbowl Sunday, so the place that it was held at (not sure who provided this) set up a corner with recliner chairs and big screen TVs for the grooms to watch the game Smiley laugh

We were going to go since it was free admission, and the entire wedding party was going to go and meet up for the first time and then go to lunch together but things came up and we couldn't go Smiley sad Our wedding party still hasn't met one another. :/

My FH actually enjoys them. He loves talking to people and trying different foods. With our schedules though it makes it pretty difficult to actually find one we can both attend at the same time! He had a blast as did I at a registry event Belk had. He loves the giveaways and going around with the scanner registering for things!

I actually went to one solo last weekend for the first time and that will be my last time going solo! Evidently ate something I was pretty allergic too and ended up in the ER afterwards with hives and swollen throat Smiley tongue woopsies

Haha...funny story...we work off hours (he's 2nd shift, I'm 3rd) I went home from work one morning and remembered a bridal show was that day approximately 1 1/2 hours from where we live. The show was at a casino. So at 900am, I go wake him up and say..."Honey..wanna go to the casino?" I got a half groggy "yes...wait...seriously?...why?" Told him there was a bridal show, but he was thinking casino, bar, and football game. So needless to say, eventhough he went to bed at about 4am, we headed to the show. It was kind of funny because I told him I wanted to go to win free stuff. He followed me around the whole time, laughing at how overwhelmed I was....It was a great time!
