Giant Paper Flower Wall

Bianca, on May 16, 2016 at 12:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 29

Hi Ladies! I'm still looking for some decor for my ceremony and came across the flower walls. They are like $1500 JUST TO RENT! I was wondering if anyone had attempted on recently or found inexpensive rentals anywhere.

We're doing paper flowers as well but I'm trying my best to stay under budget.

So my sister and I are trying to do it ourselves. So far they look ok. I paid for $4.68 for crepe paper and we watched youtube diy videos.

My bridal coordinator rents the floral wall but I believe it costs about the same amount as your quote to rent it. Hope you find a better quote.

That's beautiful. Are you doing that gold color too? I really like that.

They have templates of flowers on pinterest. I downloaded some and it helped me a lot.

If it's for your ceremony the arches, look really cool too. Some of the ones I saw on pinterest, the arch was made out of pvc pipes, very inexpensive. All you would need to do is cover it so the pvc doesn't show.

If you decided to do partial backdrop that would look nice too.

Yes the wedding colors are black, white, gold and accents of red. I was thinking maybe I could do a partial background if I can't dedicate that much time to it. I know it takes FOR-EV-ER to make these, but I can't see spending $2000 on paper. lol

My thoughts exactly... I've been doing a few here and there during my lunch break at work.

Good luck! I'm sure it will turn out great!

I'm making mine! Time consuming, but not super difficult so far. Just start a few months in advance and you will be fine.

    @Jme your flowers are beautiful!

Only thing is it's 4' x 3' so it's pretty tiny and just the flowers so I still have to put it together. BUT...maybe it will help so I don't have to do so many on my own. I can do like 20 on my own to make it a little bigger.

Oh... yes that is pretty small. How big did you need your wall? Maybe you can contact the seller and ask her how much it would be to make one in the size you need. I love Etsy and most of the things I purchased for my wedding I bought off Etsy. Some of the sellers are willing to work with you and your budget depending on the item. Hopefully the seller can work something out with you. If not, you can definitely add your own spin to it and make the larger size flowers and ones with contrasting colors that go with your theme.

I just showed my coworker and maybe I will go with the half wall idea. A black foam board with gold accents on the bottom and have the flowers on top. $400 isn't too much to ask for I guess but I would need at least double that.

I know that Michaels has large paper flowers that you assemble yourself. They're $20 per box and I think each box has 4 flowers.

Honestly, I've been making these off and on for months and they are not difficult. I've spent less than $50 on fun papers and cardstock, and I can make about 4 an hour. I do a few while watching TV about three nights a week and I'm going to have them all over the place at my wedding this weekend. That listing is for the flowers - you're still going to be buying the board and attaching them, which adds to the cost as well. I stopped between January-April, but now that I've graduated and have more nights to do it, I'm overloaded with flowers.

The only other thing is that Joann's had one of those "stack" sets of paper that also included stencils for how to trace out and cut the flowers from the paper - if I hadn't already made a ton freehand I would have bought it. It would have been $10 with their discount coupons etc. and it would give you the actual patterns to use on the paper.

Thanks Heather & WolfWedding. I'm so not crafty and with a tiny human running around, I just don't want to over commit myself. Plus for the centers of the flower, you need a cutting machine. IDK...i need to figure this out though. I only have 5 more months!

Congrats on your weddings. Can't wait to see your pics!

I wanted to bump this so I could see the progress from anyone making their own giant paper flower wall.

Im Making paper flowers as well, a combination of tissue and crepe paper. They are time consuming but not difficult or expensive. Pinterest and youtube have some great tutorials if you decide to go this route.
