Gift Card only registry?

Chelsea, on September 23, 2020 at 4:58 PM Posted in Registry 0 10

Hi, so our wonderful friends and family have been asking for our website and registry quite frequently to bless us. I'm just grateful for prayers, love and support. I also want to be sensitive to so many whose finances may have been impacted this year in particular. That being said, they still want something to reference. Is it ok to register for gift cards to a few of our frequently shopped places? This way there isn't a surcharge to anyone with cash funds?

I don’t see a problem with that! I feel like a lot of people give cash as well but gift cards are fine too!

I feel like no one is getting the "hint" lol and I have a mix of traditional and modern folks that ask for registry information (of which I had never planned to because I'm just so grateful for all that we do have, I don't want folks buying stuff just to buy stuff). Honestly if I could register for endless naps on demand right now I would lol

🤣 I definitely get it and I feel like older people do like to use registries. Maybe put a few things that you can always use like washcloths or something that you would buy using the gift cards

If people ask for your registry, it's completely fine to say you don't have one but that you are saving up for X.

I would just say “honeymoon contributions happily accepted” or something like that. Most people will just give a check or cash anyways.

I feel ya girl! We’ve been together a long time & own our home so we don’t need anything. Just doing a honeymoon fund but people still ask...

It's never polite to ask for money in any form.

Do it! My friends did the same thing. They have an Amazon registry that has ONLY gift cards.
