Gift Money

We plan to pay off most of our debt. We are going to start looking for houses after we get married but that is really going to depend on what happens in the next year or so. FHs grandpa gave us his house in his will. We arent sure if we want to stay where we are until we get his house and then live "rent free" for awhile or sell/rent his house out and buy a new one.

We don't have a registry so probably saving and buying a few things for around the house.

Some will go to house repairs, some to savings, and some will go toward a down payment on an SUV. I have a Mini with a stick that FH can't drive and with our 3 big dogs that already barely fit and the hopes of starting a family sooner rather than later the upgrade is VERY needed lol.

Ours is going towards extra stuff on our honeymoon & house renovation stuff!

Good question. We haven't thought about it yet.
For the most part, our wedding and honeymoon will be paid for by the time we would get any monetary gifts. We may put the DJ and photobooth remainder on the credit card, but we do it for rewards and pay it off every month.
I honestly don't have any idea of how much, if any, money we would get. I guess we will finish paying any wedding costs, set aside some honeymoon spending money, and throw the rest in savings to figure out what to do with when we return from our honeymoon.
He has a bit of standing debt, so we might throw some money at that, finish buying registry items and what not.
I guess this will be an excellent discussion topic in a few months.

Were definitely buying new windows for our house! And probably some towards splurges on the honeymoon

We bought a house before we got engaged, so gift money is going towards some new furniture (dining room, living room, master bedroom) and then maybe towards improvements like central AC.

We plan on making extra payments on both of our cars, pay a little more towards our mortgage, purchase a few of our bigger ticket items that don't get purchased off of our registry, and then put the rest in savings to save up for a baby!

Are you going to do them yourselves or contract someone out to do them?

We just did our bottom floor windows ourselves (we purchased a home last year - it's a stunning victorian home with original hardwood and stained glass...and original windows lol they needed to be replaced) and wow what a process that is! I was basically moral support and dog babysitter while FH and a couple of his friends replaced our windows haha.

We’re gonna use for our honeymoon! We’re already saving for a house- so we don’t want to dip into that at all.

Honeymoon!! And finish paying off my car.

They’re going to be pretty pricey because the windows themselves are huge so the wedding money will definitely help!

We got some surprise money for our engagement this weekend that will pay for our photographer, invites, and most of our flowers. Super excited about that!

My fiancé and I live in an apartment right now that we both love and is perfect for us so we decided to stay here until after the wedding and then any cash we get will go towards a down payment on a house!

We are using it to pay off the car loan and if there's anything extra, it will go toward our house fund.

We’ll be putting it towards our honeymoon and hopefully any leftovers can go towards our future home.
