Gift Registry Etiquette for "elopement"

Sydney, on July 2, 2019 at 12:35 AM Posted in Registry 0 3

Hi everybody,

My FH and I are going to be having a small intimate ceremony in Estes Park, Colorado, and traveling there from St. Louis, MO, with our parents and some of our close friends. We'll be having a casual reception a couple of weeks following our ceremony at my in-law's home where we will be providing lunch and drinks. Other than lunch, we'll probably just hang out with family and mingle.

Because we're doing not having a traditional ceremony or reception, is it rude if my FH and I opened a gift registry?

Thank you!

Nope. Go for it. Someone may ask for it.

    Hi Sydney!

It would be totally ok to open a registry, as long as you follow other etiquette guidelines such as not including it on the invitation and being open with guests that you've already married. For all registry etiquette guidelines, check out this WeddingWire article - Wedding Registry Etiquette 101 For Engaged Couples.

If any guests coming to the celebration wish to buy you something, they may reach out to you and ask for the registry information and in that case, you can share it Smiley smile

Estes Park is beautiful! Your wedding will be absolutely lovely!

It’s usually free to register at most places, so it certainly wouldn’t hurt to do it and have it in your back pocket.
