Gift Registry

Lisa, on September 8, 2019 at 6:25 PM Posted in Registry 0 20

How soon did you all register for gifts? Also, when did you post it on your website? My guests already have access to the website from when we sent out our save the dates but I haven't opened up the registry page yet. My wedding isn't until next October. Should I do it before I have a bridal shower or should I go live when it's time for everyone to RSVP? Is it too early now?

You’ll need to have your registry available before your shower or people won’t know what gifts to purchase. Anytime before then is really fine.

It's a good idea to give guests lots of time to look at your registry. It gives them more time to plan around sales or other expenses in their lives. Be sure to keep an eye on items that get discontinued so you can be prepared to add replacement items.

Hey Lisa we're getting married next October as well and I agree with the other 2 ladies. I suggest you start shopping now and get it up and running. We have our engagement session the end of this month and I want our registry ready once save-a dates go out.

Thanks for your advice Haley! Is it bad etiquette to have registries at more than 1 place?

Thanks Tiffany! I’ll make sure I get on our registry now then since our site is already up and ready. Just lot sure if I want items from specific stores or if I want to do a honeymoon registry through our resort.

We started our registries about 8 months in advance but didn't publish it live on our site until wedding and shower invites went out a few weeks ago.

It's fine to have more than one registry as long as they are for different items. Places like Target and Amazon are good because they have stuff for the entire home. Atleast one registry should be for a place with an actual physical store as older relatives tend to not like online shopping.

We started our registry (Amazon) right away then edited it throughout the year. So it was up before our save the dates & invites went out - both had our wedding website which had our registry information. We liked starting it early, it gave us time to take off impulse add and really do research.

I used MyRegistry to import my registries in one place. I registered individually at Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdales, etc and was able to “upload” them into one site as a MyRegistry listing. A guest clicks the item and gets taken to the retailer page. If they go in-store the site updates too. It was perfect for me!

Hey Lisa! My Fiancé and I are getting married october 18, 2020 and we created our website a month ago and got our registry finished and on our website 2 weeks ago! It's always best to get it up and running as soon as possible si it gives your guests an idea on what you want. It also makes it convenient for them having it finished early so they'll know what type of money to save back for a special gift for you!(:

We don't plan on registering for alot. We really want money or big ticket items like appliances or new carpet. I put a small registry on Amazon once I sent my Save the Dates. I also put a blurb about needing home improvement items and more stuff will be added. Our wedding is Sept 12, 2020

That’s smart Rebecca! We’re in the same boat as well. We already own a home together so we don’t need much stuff. We could use some landscaping and a few home improvements. We’re also having a destination wedding so I’ll list excursions on there too.

You can register through Lowes and link it to Amazon I just have not figured out how yet. You can also ask for Lowes/Home Depot cards on Amazon.
