Giving away of bride question.

jkhtinker12, on October 21, 2014 at 12:58 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how my parents should answer my officiant when he ask who gives this bride. First off I have I weird situation. My step dad and mom are giving me away but I also want my father included. My father away 10 years ago but I still want something saying he gives me away because even though he has passed I am still his little girl. I just don't know how to word it. Any help?

I'm not really sure.... Maybe your mom (or step-dad) could say, "Her father, her step-dad (or mother) and I".

It doesn't have to be complicated just because your situation is different than usual. You could also pin a photo-charm to your bouquet of him. That is a good way to keep him involved as well.

Oh I have him involved in more ways than one but I just really want him to be a part of giving me away even when he isnt there.

How about just "her parents"? If you consider your step-father a parent, that will cover it.

Unless you want the officiant to ask who is giving the bride away, you can skip that part, and just have the officiant mention something about your dad and all your relatives that have passed in the ceremony.

Hm... does your officiant have any suggestions? Since he has dealt with hundreds (if not thousands) of brides before he should know best what to do.

Instead of having the people who are physically giving you away answer your officiant with a response about your father who passed, you could ask your officiant to say a few words about your father giving you away right after you parents say "we do".

My parents said "she gives herself with our blessing and the blessing of her family". You could do something similar! That includes ALL of your family- your dad, your step dad and your mom Smiley smile
