Giving notice concern

Holz, on April 19, 2023 at 2:48 AM Posted in Planning 0

Ey all,

I am a little worried about giving notice for my wedding on the 6th of Jan, 2024. I have booked the registrar and have arrived all the conditional documentation and paid the deposit.

For context: I am currently living abroad with my partner. I am a UK citizen and he is Irish, my parents live in the county we are getting married in.

The plan is to travel to the UK the end of November around the 24th-26th of November. We planned to live with my parents for 7 days and then give notice around the 2nd of December (34 or something days before the wedding). Is this a suitable length of time?

The reason I am concerned with is the wording on the website says: "Notice of marriage can then be given but, you must wait a minimum of 29 and possibly up to 70 clear days before the marriage can take place.".

We are on the cusp of the minimum of 29 days and I am concerned it could take longer? What is it that takes longer? I clearly don't want to have travelled so far and have this whole day planned and none of it will be legal. Has anybody had experience with this?

Also, when can I book the give notice interview? Am I able to book it as soon as I know the date of our flights?

Thank you so much, sorry for all of the questions!
