Glad i am having a minimony... Why?

Kristen, on September 5, 2020 at 5:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 34
Because wedding cost and expenses easily add up for more than you budget for hahaha. I feel like I wouldn't be able to do a lot of what I want to do if I were having a larger wedding. I just dropped $173 for alterations which I realize is actually affordable for all that I'm getting but still. And we ended up spending more on our wedding cake because the flavor and fillings that we liked were considered specialty flavors. I can see how easy it is to spend more than you expect because you definitely easily say that it's one day let's make it perfect. I have mad respect or any bride that has been able to set a budget and actually stick to it hahaha. Any other Brides out there with your having a big wedding or an elopement find yourself easily spending whereGlad i am having a minimony... Why? 1

you didn't think you would and going over budget?

I’m having both a minimony and a big wedding. Our minimony will be about 30 guest and our bigger wedding over 100. There was definitely some things I wasn’t even thinking about for the bigger wedding that were spending money on.

Gurl yas! LOL. I was not planning on alterations at all and then it started with just adding some cups. The since I am going to dinner after out ceremony with our friends a bustle was recommended and then hemming it and adding a pocket inside for my insulin pump so another $173. My extensions I just got were $189 plus I just did a sew in for tomorrow trial which ended up after tip being $250. Bad adult move thank God I have savings ha ha and for the next two month saving more. I had been saving for my wedding but then things just started adding up. I still want get gifts for our three guests too for the day of plus I am buying some for the bridal brunch this month.

Girl I will not talk how much I spent lmao. Alterarions on my minimony dress were 200 I believe for a bustle, replace the straps, and take it in. Plus the favors that didn't get set out AND I have to budget for a bigger event next year?! Things like the cake tray were probably too much of an expense but I loved ours. I'm rewearing my dress though if I can, plus we have most of the stuff for the big wedding. I think costs just add up because there's so much pressure to look good.

I can only imagine what my alterations will cost. So far I’ve lost 16lbs and my big wedding isn’t until March 🥴 so I know that’s gonna be expensive. We definitely didn’t expect the photographer to be as expensive as it is.

Girl yes!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ We are planning a small (40 person) destination wedding. I originally said I wanted to stay under $10,000. I literally JUST re-did our cost spreadsheet about 5 mins ago, and we have already more than doubled our budget! I don’t know how it even happens – it just sneaks up on you one dollar at a time!! Lol

Girl it is adding up but yeah there is the pressure to look good and make the day memorable ha ha. Sigh...not I owed $1089 and it is not $1400 if I want to include tipping and what not. I can do it but dang it lol

Yeah I have lost 20 since we went into lock down back in March and have kept it going. I am almost afraid to lose another 8 - 10 lbs because I do not want to pay to get it taken in ha ha.

Thanks so much. I loved the bustle she added. She said not to do french because of how much is underneath and it would looked bunched up.

Oh yeah I imagine. Various ceremonies will cause that. These unexpected expenditures creep up on you ha ha.

It’s VERY easy to spend money for a wedding. My fiancé and I have bartered and traded for a lot of services. The original budget for my wedding dress was $1500 including the alterations. However, I ended up spending $1750 just for the dress. Because I spent more on my dress, I simply spoke to the florist and had her remove/replace some of the more expensive flowers. It’s definitely a five and take kind of thing for me.

I get it lol as of this moment my minimony dress fits fine, and I think it’ll fit fine being that it’s 30 days away. As far as the bigger wedding? Idk 🥴 lol
