Because wedding cost and expenses easily add up for more than you budget for hahaha. I feel like I wouldn't be able to do a lot of what I want to do if I were having a larger wedding. I just dropped $173 for alterations which I realize is actually affordable for all that I'm getting but still. And we ended up spending more on our wedding cake because the flavor and fillings that we liked were considered specialty flavors. I can see how easy it is to spend more than you expect because you definitely easily say that it's one day let's make it perfect. I have mad respect or any bride that has been able to set a budget and actually stick to it hahaha. Any other Brides out there with your having a big wedding or an elopement find yourself easily spending wherecfb_1422951.jpg

you didn't think you would and going over budget?

We just canceled our big wedding and opted for a micro wedding and feel EXTREMELY relived lol . Our venue just credited back some money for us since we have downsized and I’m like wow 😱

(Now I’m trying to check myself and not get carried away with a million little details and things that will put me over budget for our micro wedding Lol )

Yeah, if I could do it all over again I'd have done the courthouse lol. Maybe courthouse in my dress. 😂
But I'm a CPA, and when I set my budget, the 👏 budget 👏 is 👏 set. We laid out $25k (... siiiiigh and uuuugh) and if the rehearsal dinner stays below $1,500 for 24 people then we are hitting it square. If we hadn't been locked into paying for our all inclusive venue at $15k (100 guest cost, pandemic or not), I think we could have adjusted with cost savings.
Your dress looks great on you!!

Yeah I am going a little more frugal where I can. Trust me I am not getting the bouquet I would desire but as long as it is cascading. Even cake decoration I kept it simple but there are other ways I am splurging more. It is a give and take situation when it comes to things for the wedding ha ha.

Oh yeah thirty days you are good. I got two months and FH and I did decide we want to be at a a certain weight so we have said let's cut out date nights to one, avoid eating bad and drinking a lot and two to budget that money for our ceremony and honeymoon.

LOL that was the reflection I had yesterday and if I were having even a small wedding with more guests and a reception that there is no way I could get alterations or the cake I want. The good thing about it mostly being about us two since we'll have a few guests it is easier for us to think about what we want and rather what our guests want ya know? I am glad I can shower my MOH with gifts as she has been awesome or any other friends that have helped me or our guests that are coming. But yes I am spending more than planned because it is easier to say well not having a full wedding so let me splurge ha ha.

It definitely helps! We’ve limited eating out in our household to only Saturday 1 meal. I’ve been cooking the rest. Where are you going for your honeymoon? We usually go to the Caribbean somewhere each year but we haven’t even planned anything yet because of Covid

Oh well your job is deal with finances you have a leg up over me ha ha. Funny thing is I have seen lovely courthouse weddings but where I live none of our courthouses are cute. Realistically the budget we set would have been great for venue, officiant and dinner for our friends after. It was my that was like I am personally splurging on photography, getting the dress I want as long as it was under $1000 which it was...cheaper than my first so when I exchanged I had a credit which allowed me to get the shoes I want for the ceremony...,the veil I want, the hair and make up artist I want, etc... It is me making this day feel as special as possible even with a few guests so I do not look back and did not feel bridal ya know?

We go out once every two weeks when we get paid but even then where can go can be pricey. Even with the ordering out he agreed it needs to be a place that is mostly healthy like you can make Chipotle healthy but you cannot pizza hut ha ha.

We are going to Excellence in Cancun. I told FH let me have the ceremony I want and you have the honeymoon he wants (I would trek around Europe) but he wanted an all inclusive top rated resort. He has been diligent of checking this fbook group to see if COVID protocols and that people are traveling and coming back safe. I do see that Cancun is not a hot spot right now.

Yeah I haven’t heard much about Cancun. We probably will do something small like a weekend trip after our minimony and a big honeymoon after the big wedding in March if things are better by then!

Understood, I feel that a lot. I had originally wanted to be pretty thrifty with the decorations and didn't see a point of having cute cake toppers or anything like that. But now that it will kind of be a more subdued group, I did find areas where I could put in special things that will hopefully make us smile when we look at the pictures. Like the Vegeta and Flame Princess funko pop cake toppers! 😄✌️
Everyone's budget should be what they prioritize and also feel comfortable with - If you aren't putting yourself in a bad position financially for the future, and the purchases are a priority to you, DO IT.

Oh no. I can be honest and say I have gone into my savings a little but I did budget for the wedding and now I need to budget about $400 more. I am a teacher so I have done some extra side work to use that money and each check put some money aside. When FH had COVID and did not work for a month that is what hit us a bit financially but I had saved quite a bit. It is not hitting me that 2 months in the race to save for the day and honeymoon is really hitting but we will be fine. Nothing in which I need to use credit cards or really delve into savings or anything like that of course. I am awaiting three payments for the extra work I have done so that will replenish some recent expenditures.

Your dress is beautiful! I got engaged over the weekend and after starting the search for a venue I texted my mom that I can't afford to get married.

LOL you know it hits hard when you start researching. We were even gonna do just us eloping and some high end hotels do not do elopement specials and will still charge their full rate as if it were a big wedding and I still found those prices ridiculous. You have to dig deep and think outside the box. Guest list and budget will be the biggest factors. We can all afford to get married but not maybe the way we would like to. Parks are cheap venues for weddings but also check bed and breakfasts or other venues. Steer clear of hotels. Some country clubs here had good rates for ceremony and reception. Also think time of day. A friend of mine last year had a wedding with a greek ceremony in the a.m. followed by a lunch reception which was still just as fun as a night one. She had lunch food which was cheaper and still beer and wine and dancing. Time of day can be a factor as well. Dinner is more expensive.
