Glass eiffel vase with hydrangeas?

CT Bride, on January 13, 2012 at 3:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Has anybody done just tall glass eiffel vases (about 32", so above peoples' line of view) with 3-4 hydrangeas at the top and maybe some pretty painted branches sticking out? I've been thinking about affordable centerpieces and think this might be an easier option than submerging flowers, but not sure if it will look too cheap/empty. Has anybody tried this? I would make them the night before so the day of, we'd just lift them onto the tables and voila!

Like the first picture (below)? I've seen it a lot with feathers but never hydrangeas. Would the flowers be real or fake? My only concern would be weight. Since the vases are skinnier the flowers on top my be a little too heavy, causing the centerpieces to topple over. If you get a florist to do them for you they may have a better idea on how to distribute the weight so they wouldn't topple.

There have been quite a few brides on here from the past that made their own centerpeices using feathers though. From what I've heard it is nice inexpensive option :o)

I'm not a big fan of feathers and love flowers, so definitely something like the first option. The florist is the one who suggested the option to me and he did say I could DIY, but am just wondering if anybody has done this before..?

I'm using the 36" Eiffel Tower vases - not so much w/ hydrangeas - combination roses & peacock feathers for us. If you are worried about them toppling over, my wedding planner suggested gluing them down to a 12x12 mirror base. I'm not so sure I need to do that though - the bases of those eiffel towers are pretty heavy...

Marie - do you have any pics of what it'll look like with roses? I had thought hydrangeas were a good option since they're really wide so they fill up the space nicely and it's hard to put a lot of skinny flowers into an eiffel vase since the opening is so narrow.

No - but there's this dohicky styrofoam ball on a stick - the stick is 6" long, goes down in the vase and helps stabilize the flowers it...

Here's some of my inspirations though

If you choose tall eiffel tower vases with a heavy top you can consider addding sand or rocks or gems to fill the vases and give them bottom weight Smiley smile thats what im doing.
