Glassware for the bar

Kayla , on January 14, 2017 at 7:13 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Our venue provides plastic cups for the bar- yes it's an open bar. We provide the alcohol to the venue and they provide the bartenders for the night. So my original idea was to do a custom glass as a favor/glass to use for the night. Well after looking into that it's way more expensive than we want to spend on favors. I know when it comes to favors people rather just have edibles or none at all. So my question is should I just scratch the idea of custom glasses? or maybe just get plain glasses for everyone so they aren't drinking out of plastic all night? Or honestly is plastic okay? I mean it is a barn wedding so I guess it would fit then venue okay but I am in no way going rustic with decor- no burlap and lace here.

Hello! Your venue sounds gorgeous! I would think about the floors in your venue and how easy it would be to clean up broken glass because you know there is always that one person. Also, if you get plain glasses are they for behind the bar? If they are then keep in mind people usually want a fresh glass every drink and at the end of the night you will need to take all of those glasses home. If they are to be used as favors then maybe a cute note inside the glass so people understand that they are favors and not just a random glass at their spot. Maybe think about taking the money you would spend on glasses and put it towards another fun extra you may want. At the end of the day or in a year from now people won't be talking about what kind of glasses they drank out of. They will be talking about how much fun they had. Ultimately it's your day so if having glasses is that extra detail you want then go for it.

I was going to do the personalized glassware favors for my guest and get 1 pp but another poster commented what if people wanted to switch drinks during the night, would there be extra cups, or would the guest need to wash out the cup?

Katherine G. Thank you so much for your opinion! That's so true people won't remember if they used plastic or not. And I'm sure I will have broken glasses with some of this group hahaha.

RealLifeBride I didn't even think about when people switch drinks- obviously the bartender would give a new glass so that is something to consider

We are having plastic cups provided by our venue and I haven't given it a second thought. We did ask to see them though because I did not want red solo cups lol. They are those nicer crystal clear drink cups. I don't think anyone will complain abouy drinking out of plastic when the drinks are free!
