Glitter items allowed

KNL, on April 20, 2014 at 1:14 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

In our venue contract it states "glitter or confetti is not allowed in the event premises or into the building", does this just mean loose glitter in containers or does it apply to anything that has glitter on it like plates, vases, etc? We just spent the past two days making charger plates, toasting glasses, and serving trays that have glitter on them but have all been clear coated to prevent loose glitter from falling. Will these still be allowed in the venue according to the contract?? I'm starting to get nervous we've spent all this time and money and they'll turn it away!

I would assume throwing glitter, but you might want to ask them what it means (without telling them what you've done, though).

It sounds like your clear coating is fine. How would they know you did it yourself vs. buying them?

I would definitely suspect that that sort of thing is fine and they're referring to loose glitter and confetti. I'd just call and ask! That's the simplest way to answer your question.

In addition in the same paragraph it states "throwing rice, confetti, or glitter is prohibited" which is understandable, it's the other statement about it not being allowed in the building completely is what has me nervous.

I would think it's more specific to loose glitter. If you've ever tried to get glitter out of a carpet you'll understand why many places put this line in the contract. That stuff goes everywhere and STICKS! I don't think your DIYs will be an issue, the glitter doesn't look like it's going anywhere.

I would double-check with your venue. We can all tell you what we think it means, but they are the only ones who actually know what they mean when they say "no glitter."

I'll double check with the venue but I just wanted to check here first to see if anyone had already encountered the same question.

I'm pretty sure this is just referring to throwing glitter. Most of the venues we looked at had the same policy, but it only referred to loose glitter.

I am sure it is loose glitter, but it's best to play it safe and just call and ask.

The chargers were actually really easy to make, it's finding cheap ones in bulk that's the challenge. You take any color and spray it with rustoleum color metallic aluminum and let it dry then coat with rustoleum glitter in silver. The glitter doesn't come off at all.

We made around 70-80 and majority of them were in this beaded style cause that was the most affordable. We got them at bed, bath, and beyond....6 for $9.99. Collect as many 20% off coupons and you can use one coupon per pack and brings them to $7.99. The lady told me that since I only had 5 coupons for the 12 boxes, I could bring in the remaining 7 coupons with my receipt in the next 6 months and I could get those discounts back. You can use multiple coupons at one time, just has to be one coupon per item. You'll need to ask a sales person to locate them for you since they only bring out on display around the holidays.

Nope no modge podge, just the spray paints. You could do a layer over it as a sealant though. We used a clear gloss spray paint to seal it.
