Glittery Table Numbers - Who's DIY'd Them With Success?

I NEED to have these, but they are just insanely expensive on Etsy for the amount that I'm going to need. I've found several sets I like on a few different wedding resale sites, but none of the sellers seem to want to get back with me about me buying them, so that's annoying. So, who has DIY'd these...

I NEED to have these, but they are just insanely expensive on Etsy for the amount that I'm going to need. I've found several sets I like on a few different wedding resale sites, but none of the sellers seem to want to get back with me about me buying them, so that's annoying.

So, who has DIY'd these with success? I'm talking about the kind that are usually wooden cut out, glittered, sparkly and are attached to a base so they stand on their own. Pictures? Was there a particular tutorial you used online that was really helpful? Particular supplies that you think made them great? Tips? I'm not a very crafty person, I just don't have the patience for it, but I'm seriously considering trying to DIY these because I just really REALLY want them for my tables.

Any help is appreciated!

Love them, but don't forget the saying, "Glitter is the herpes of the craft world...."

Well, there's no way I'm doing these myself now! I went to a couple craft stores this weekend to look and while I didn't even see any numbers and bases I really liked, what it would cost me to buy ALL the supplies needed wouldn't save me enough to make it worth the headache of even attempting to DIY these. NO WAY! Lol! Back to Etsy I go! I plan to make sure they are sealed though if actual "chunky" glitter is used so it doesn't end up everywhere...hopefully.

I am all about DIY but I would just buy them rather than working with loose glitter. I love glitter, but I'm not neat enough to not have it cover everything in my home.

Modge podge and glitter. It's a pain, but it's easy enough to do. You can seal it with hair spray (Aussie Mega Freeze works really well.) I did a ton of glitter crafting for my wedding...I honestly hope I never see glitter again. Haha!

We are doing these for our wedding, we are likely only going to need numbers 1 -12 or 14 but I am doing them myself. I am good with a band saw so we are getting an untreated 2x10x10 and I am tracing numbers on and cutting them. Also there is now a spray paint that has glitter in it, I have only seen silver, red, and gold, but it is available in Walmart and Home Depot. I have not done them yet and am not sure how 'glittery' it will be but am hoping for good results. If I can get all numbers from one piece of lumber the whole project will cost under $30. Assuming I only need one can of spray paint. Also the 2x10 is thick enough I don't need to add a base to them.

Check with your venue! Some don't allow glittered anything.

I found this link for those of you interested. I also looked around this weekend and thought the same as you, Summer!

I finally gave in this AM and bought these on Etsy (only mine will be silver). They were a decent price (relatively speaking) for the amount I needed, not too much more than what I would have had to pay to try to DIY the glitter ones, and after I thought about it, these taller ones will likely go much better with our centerpieces. I plan to get a can of spray glitter/sparkle dust and give them a coat of sparkle though because I just can't help myself and I need the sparkle Smiley smile

@Kathryn, for the set of 20, with stands (stands are optional if you wanted to just have them on a stake to stick into a centerpiece), I paid $150 including shipping. I figure I'll spend another $10-$20 on the sparkle spray I want to use on them, so all in all not a bad price compared to what I've been seeing elsewhere...especially the glittered ones. This is a link to the listing I purchased:

They get good reviews, so here's hoping it's a quality product!

I am DIYing these! I bought numbers from Joann's that stand up on their own and are about 6 inches in height. I'm doing a layer of modge podge then pouring loose fine gold glitter on top until the whole number is covered. I'm sealing it with spray glossy modge podge. I did a test run and it came out amazing. If you do it right and carefully, you won't end up with glitter everywhere it may just take a bit longer!

I'm DIYing these. Bought a set of 20 nice wooden table numbers with bases and stems for $18.

I already have modge podge, silver paint, and silver glitter from my other crafting projects, so just had to buy some sealant spray and these will be good to go!
