Glow sticks?

Jillian, on March 28, 2017 at 10:15 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 35

I know this could come off as birthday party-ish BUT I'm just throwing it out there. I'm not sold on it myself but it crossed my mind! Since we are most likely having an open air dance floor, would glow sticks be fun to light up the night or no? What would you think if this was at a wedding you attended?

I actually saw a wedding video where as the night went on, the room got darker, & then out came the glow sticks while dancing. It was so fun and precious!

To me, it seems childish. I'm just not a fan

I don't think I'd want them for our wedding... however I have seen pics and videos of weddings that have that and it looked like a lot of fun. It looked very night clubby to me.

But if you like that there's nothing wrong. It's gonna be dark and people are gonna be drunk lol I don't think anyone will think negatively of it

I think it would be a fun thing to do once everyone is drunk and dancing!

Cute idea! My friends' bridal party brought out the glow sticks right as the groom was going to start retrieving the bride's garter. He did a funny dance beforehand and it definitely lightened the mood and made it less awkward. I feel like everyone was dancing right along with him. We all wore our glow sticks on the dance floor to finish off the night.

    Lmao @Amanda!

Ok general consensus is, they will be fun when everyone is drunk and dancing. Thanks all! I think I'll go with them, as @JPCD said it probably won't be thought of as negative. I always see packs of like 8 or 10 at the dollar store so it's not like it'll take me over budget.

@Christina we're definitely not doing the garter thing at all but I do like finishing the night with the glow sticks!

What is the make up of your guests? Are they the dance all night party crew? Then yeah. Are they more oldies, leave by 10? Then maybe not.

I think its fun! We are planning on buying some glowy things for our reception too. Last time I was in Vegas there was a wedding party outside with a bunch of big sticks that lit up and changed colors. They sell some that change to the beat of the music. Since we're also getting married at the Neon Museum, it fits our venue!

I got some for our reception. I bought them from amazon, I think I got 50 for about $15, but dont quote me. Our wedding will consist of about 80 friends and 20 family members and our crowd are all big dancers at weddings. I think people will enjoy them and they will make for some fun pictures and if they're a total flop at least I didnt waste much money

@VegasWed The Neon Bone Museum is so cool. Your wedding pictures are going to be awesome. We're getting married in Vegas as well. (The Platinum) Back on topic: I like the thin ones in this photo. I've seen some heavy duty chunky ones I wasn't a fan of.

I would say it depends on your theme and what type of wedding you ate having. We are having a Star Wars wedding, so there will be light sticks!
