Glue gun wax seals on outside of envelopes for invites?

Angel10252, on July 23, 2019 at 10:46 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Has anybody had any luck using nostalgic impressions glue gun wax on the outside of their wedding invites? I've tried other waxes and they just break apart but this wax is amazingly flexible and sturdy you nearly have to completely bend it in half to crack it. The envelopes I have are self sealing but I still wanted the wax just to make it more appealing since my invites are going to be homemade, simple, and light. I don't really want to do 2 envelopes to cover it. I did notice that these seals can peel right off of the paper so I figured I could use glue dots or some other kind of glue to really make it stick securely. I am pretty sure that my invites will still be under an ounce even with the wax, but i will be sure to get one fully completed invited weighed before mailing. My post office said they do not do hand canceling so I would just be stuck sending it through the machines. So I thought I would check here to see if anyone else has had real luck using this wax for the outside of their invites. Thank you in advance!!

The design looks great! Is there another place you can put the design? Maybe on the invitation itself?

I used this wax on our envelops and we had no problem with them falling off or being extra weight.

I tried this for our engagement party invites and some were completely messed up! I was so upset, but also glad that it happened with those invites and not the wedding ones. The machines will catch and tear them up so be prepared that some won’t make it! I still can’t believe how it messed them up when the wax was so strong and bendable, like you said too!

Oh wow! That's kind of scary, maybe I just need to send some samples out to some family and see how they hold up? I would hate to do have that happen later when we send out a whole bunch! If all else fails I guess I could stick them on the invite itself inside and see how it does, or use them for something at the actual wedding. Will just have to do some trial and error and see what works best I guess...... Thats such a bummer, because I love this stamp!

We did wax seals (I used glue gun wax sticks from Etsy) on our invitations and I absolutely LOVED the way it turned out and everyone who received them got them (thankfully!) in one piece.

Oh, and to mention - we did invites, RSVP cards, extra envelopes, and the wax seal and ours still only required a Forever stamp.
