Gluten Free Brides

Claire, on October 11, 2016 at 11:47 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 26

I'm just curious how many gf brides are on here and what your wedding plans are turning out like. I'll be 5 years on the diet this April and it's played a large part in wedding planning. I think the last thing any bride would want is to be gluttened on their wedding night. What menu options are you having?

I was literally just going to make a post about this!! I have celiac disease so I'm severely allergic! My venue is soo amazing and is giving me plenty of options while ensuring I won't be cross contaminated. I'll be able to eat tons of our apps, any of our entrees, 3 of the desserts, and we will have 2 cakes, 1 regular for all the guests and a mini one for me and a few others who may be on the gf diet.

I can't do dairy and thus far all of the caters I have reached out to have been super nice about it. I have a "cupcake lady"'who makes vegan cupcakes that dont taste like cardboard and come gf for my handful of guests who have allergies as well! Getting a quote from her Smiley smile

I'm celiac as well. My venue will have all 3 appetizers, one meal choice and we'll be ordering a gf cake from my favorite gf bakery. We've eaten a few times at our venue and the food is amazing.

FH and I are vegans. It is VERY important for us to uphold our beliefs and lifestyle especially on our wedding day. I unfortunately have medical issues as well which leaves me gluten-free and soy-free. Our buffet will be a vegan, gluten-free and soy-free feast. I sure as hell am not getting sick at my wedding. It is horrible having a reaction. Many guests are actually either 1 out of the 3, 2 out of the 3, or 3 out of 3 too so it works out well too. Our family and friends are supportive and know they will be fed well.

My MOH is celiac and I will be specifying a gluten-free plate for her. If I'm not mistaken, it's a pasta dish and she'll fill up on lots of salad lol

We have several people coming who are gluten free, either by choice or allergy. It was not so easy, as a lot of meals are made with some kind of flour. But, we were able to come up with a ton of stuff for apps - meals - desserts.

Another celiac bride here! I'll be the only GF person at the wedding. I will be sure to eat something before pictures/ceremony start, then we will have a buffet with tons of variety- my venue reception coordinator is going to run through the buffet for me first and grab a plate, throw some plastic wrap over it, and it'll be ready whenever I am. They are great with allergies there. We will have a small cake for FH and I to cut, with a bigger cake for everyone else. That's about it! Smiley smile

I have celiac guests (three that I know of so far), and I've been wondering what to do with their meals. I hope the caterer will offer a few plates that will be GF, since we're doing a bunch of pastas. And I'm really not sure what to do about desserts.

I have health issues that are worsened by eating gluten and sone other things (I also don't eat dairy, egg, and working on removing soy). Luckily my venue/caterer said they will customize my meal and cake no problem. There are some hors d'oeuvres that I won't be able to eat but I don't mind since they're mostly for the guests. If any guests also have dietary needs I'll make sure they're catered to as well, since I know how much it sucks to not be able to eat anything.

FH is gluten free so we are doing a few GF pasta dishes (we are doing Italian food) as well as he can eat most of the sides as they are naturally GF and then for our cocktail hour we are doing a French fry bar with both regular and sweet potatoes (his all time fav!)

I myself am not GF. Though one of my bridesmaids are. I decided to make the vegetarian dish also GF. I gave her the options and I let her choose. BUT you should be able to request your personal dish GF.

"buffet will be a vegan, gluten-free and soy-free feast."

That just sounds like really expensive tears of sadness.

We have vegans coming, our venue said we can just ask people to write their dietary restrictions on the RSVP card and as long as its less than 10% of our total we won't get charged the fee for multiple entree options. (They charge $3pp for 2 choices and $5pp for 3..we will have two choices, they won't charge us for three choices if it's less than 10%)

Also, I am going to try and get a small 6-8" sugar free cake for some diabetics in the family, and a few vegan cupcakes for the vegans!

I understand dietary restrictions and excuse me if I offend anyone but I wouldn't force my guests to eat Vegan soy free etc if they aren't. My sister is gf/vegan and she didn't make us eat according to her diet restrictions. The caterer made her a special dish to accommodate her.

Our venue is catering to all allergies it's been amazing. It's a very slim number of places that do GF where I live.

I recently learned I have a wheat allergy- so this has been on my mind a lot. We haven't begun talking with vendors yet, but this is something that I will be ensuring is able to be accommodated. My FH and I have discussed the option of having 2 different cakes so that I can enjoy my wedding cake, but am not forcing my dietary restrictions on others. If anyone has any great vendors in the Chicagoland area, let me know Smiley smile

@Waggles what if you offer some cupcakes for your gf guests. If you do some research there are a lot more gf bakeries opening up where you could order a few.
