"Go for" person?

Samantha, on May 31, 2017 at 11:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

I've been told that I need to have a "go for" person on the day of the wedding so that the bridal party can get ready instead of grabbing stuff from a car or delivering a message etc. Is anyone else doing this? Thanks!

Yep. The on site coordinator at the venue.

A day of coordinator. This is a paid position.

Yep... our planner is handling this... though if she absolutely needs to know my opinion on something, she'll be asking MOH (even though we're completely different, she knows how to 'put herself in my shoes' and knows what I like and what I don't so she's appointed herself as WP's go to person... and I'm doing the same for MOH's wedding a month before mine)

Yes, in my opinion, a doc is a necessity.

Ummm... isn't it a gopher? Like someone who does it all? I think you confused that and a "go to" person?

Anyway. Yes and it's a Day of Coordinator!

A "go to" person or a gopher? A planner/DOC is a great idea!

I had a coordinator at the venue to deal with vendors and reception details. But to get stuff from the bm's cars? No. And honestly can't recall messages needing to be delivered.

Do you mean a gopher? Someone who will do the grunt work?

A DOC would be very helpful.

We have a doc that comes with the venue, if we didn't I'd hire one or use my officiant as my DOC (she offers both services, and I just adore her).

Even with a DOC though, I'm sure there will be a lot of small personal things that your mom or a relative or a BM will have to do. For example, grabbing something from the car would mean someone has to give you their keys, and may have to go move their car or direct the DOC where something is...not sure if it's just better to have someone familiar do these things. But you don't need to officially 'designate' someone - just ask whoever is around (particularly bridesmaids).

We had a function coordinator, but not someone "on hand" to run errands during the day. I don't think it's necessary.

If someone left something in the car, they can fetch it themselves.

Message needs to be delivered? Hello cellphone.

A coordinator is one thing, but an errand-person is probably unnecessary unless you are high maintenance. I mean, no judgement if you are... but if you're not then you'll probably be fine.

Both the general and assistant banquet managers are overseeing our ceremony and reception. I also have my aunt and brother's girlfriend handling decorations. The staff at the country is also able to help set up. If you don't really need it, don't waste your money.

Coordinator is on the case... Because I have no idea how everything should go and I don't want to be stressed on my wedding day.
