Going above and beyond for guests

I know we always hear about “properly hosting” our guests. But is anyone going beyond the minimum etiquette expectations in hosting? (Things such as extravagant favors, welcome bags, entertainment at the reception, paying for their travel expenses, premium bar, etc.)

My daughter and her fiance have went way beyond for their guest. The guest can come in on Thursday and we have rented 3 cabins for 39 people to come to North Georgia in October and stay Thursday through Monday. Thursday the bridal party and groomsmen will throw the bachelor and bachelorette parties. Friday morning is a quiet morning, however, rehearsal dinner everyone is invited for a Taco bar, moonshine, wine, margaritas, and dressed up smores. After dinner they hired a DJ to do karoke for the guest and we will play cards, games, and drink. Saturday they have a field day scheduled with a scavenger hunt and BBQ for the guest. That evening they have scheduled the Princess Bride movie and we bought popcorn and each guest favorite candy. Sunday is the wedding. The only extras we did were the bridesmaid makeup is paid for. There will be a Cigar Bar but the wedding will be dry (the 20 guest coming from nearby are mostly elderly and non-drinkers). However, we did do an extra amount of desserts as those guest have sweet tooth's and prefer cake and pie over liquor. (the other guest won't mind as we drank Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). All food all weekend is provided. Monday the guest will leave and so not hosting a brunch or anything. But it should be fun. Also, wedding favors my daughter is painting each person a small painting. She went to Savannah College of Art and Design is actually known for her art in our circle so I know everyone will be touched by the gift. So, yes a very busy 4 days and much preparations but we hope everyone loves the weekend.

This sounds amazing! Being able to host our closest friends and basically party for several days at a time with them is exactly why we chose a destination wedding! Why celebrate for one night when you can do it for 3-4 days?! 😆

Yes and they are so excited. It is a blending of two families and most wedding give you 4 hours to meet the other family. This wedding will give everyone 4 days. We hope that it will ease the way later with grandkids. It is harder to be hateful to someone you know and like. Smiley winking I like his mom and sister immensely. So, that should help with grandkids. Smiley smile

Yea I think I went above and beyond for our wedding guest. I got then a four-piece coaster set with a wine bottle stopper. We're providing them with personal masks and hand sanitizer.
