Attended an office birthday potluck yesterday and they had this fancy gourmet cake from a new bakery. It was pretty but it tasted like crap. The ones from previous tried and true bakeries are gone in an instant by non-cake people because they are good quality/tasting. This one was high end, super dry and dense and the frosting was incredibly sweet so you couldn’t eat much of it. Plus being refrigerated/frozen didn’t help it. They couldn’t give it away to anyone afterwards.
Also, if you don’t have forks and plates, people won’t eat it. Cupcakes are very messy between frosting on your face and crumbs in your lap.
