Good price for flowers? Sams Club?!?!

brittney , on April 20, 2011 at 11:23 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 28

Okay, so as are most of you, I am on a tight budget for my wedding. And honestly, I really can't see spending tons of money on flowers that are going to die, but I still want my wedding to be pretty. So I've been looking and looking and Sam's Club seems to be a great route to go. I'm attaching a link for reviews for the different types of flowers and what not. I'm pretty sure this is the direction I am going to go for mine. Just wanted to give everyone on a budget a heads up.

Yay! Thanks!! I'm checking that out now.

How do you get a Sam's Club membership?

Um, I'm not sure if you can do it online or not, but I know for sure you can instore. We got one right after Christmas and it was $45. So worth it! Pluse we are doing our own sides for our food so it'll come in handy then too. I'm still reading reviews on the flowers and am finding nothing but positive things! I'm sooooo excited!

.........I SO wish I had found WW earlier. Even though I am getting my entire wedding in $5,000 I could have done it even cheaper if I had been talking to you ladies from the beginning. Great find Brittney!

Like you I am on a budget as well, if you need more colors to chose from check out the is website. You can mix and match a 150 rose for 174.00. If you don't need that many than use some as centerpieces.

We are going to Harrie Teeter and buying a bunch of the seven dollar bouquets they have, and my friends mother who is a former florist is going to take them apart and make the type of bouquet we would prefer, as for center pieces we bought fake flowers and my friends mother also did those, they were beautiful, and came out sooo much cheaper then if i bought them all, if that were the case i wouldnt have ne lol

My FSIL got her flowers done at Costco and the flowers were not impressive at all and the bouquets and boutonierres fell apart before the ceremony was even over. Really though, you get what you pay for.

I am also going this route. I've heard nothing but good reviews. I am either doing carnations or gerbers.

Beware! warehouse club flowers have notoriously inconsistent quality - the "cold chain" is often not well maintained (as in they may sit in a warm environment for an extended period before being put back in the cooler) also, they are often put in a cooler with food, which causes them to fade more quickly. Carlina's expereince with them is the result of this.

This is who I was going to go when I was going the online ordering route. I ended up getting my bouquet done professionally, and I just went to Safeway for bunches of callas and iris for my 2 BMs the day before.

I have heard and seen nothing but wonderful from Sam's club... go for it! They were going to work for me on even doing a half order of the package. For that, you do have to order through the store tho FYI Smiley smile

I agree with Studio G. Any non-flower shop's flowers will be a lower quality, and very inconsistent. I've seen some Sam's Clubs who have a great floral section, and others that are downright AWFUL! Grocery stores and the like can be great resources for cheaper flowers- but I be very careful. Visit their floral department in person before you make any decisions. Then, visit some realy flower shops and compare. The skill of workers will be much lower for things like bouquets and bouts. The quality of the flowers will be much lower than those that a florist would use.

I'm all about saving money- but make sure you aren't cutting quality too much.

And just a side note- I'm using paper flowers! They are really cute (IMO), 1/3 the price and a great keepsake for after the wedding. Just another option for the budget brides!

Leyila - Sams membership is about $35 a year, just walk in and pay the $35 and you can go and shop.

My friend got a bunch of roses for her bouquets and decor for her wedding from Sams Club, ordered offline and they were lovely! I think I'm doing this..although I will shop around and things..what she did was got the flowers then paid a florist to put them together, much cheaper, dunno if all florists do that though.

There are other brides that have used them that are on WW and the flowers were beautiful often when the flowers don't hold up it's human error. I would call sam's and ask them questions about the flowers and where they come from and etc if you don't feel comfortable also ask them about their policy if things go wrong. I am ordering some flowers from one of the wholesale sites bunchesdirect.com and having them sent to a florist to arrange. That one particular flower was cheaper there than through her wholesaler.

The reviews for Costco roses are amazing. 100 roses for 75 dollars. They are shipped directly to your door 2-3 days before wedding, they give you instructions on how to prepare/store them....the reviews said that they opened beautifully and were still gorgeous 2 weeks after the wedding. I'm going with all one color for small, tight, low centerpieces and I'm seriously debating going with 200 roses doe 150 dollars!

Thank you so much! I have been looking for a specific flower that I had seen and want to use for my centerpieces. I didn't know the name, but because of your post I finally found it! Turns out its a blue/purple orchid. Shows how much I know flowers lol.
