Gothic diy Ideas? 1
I saw this online and absolutely loved it. Thinking about doing something similar and would love some other ideas of DIY Gothic Halloween decorations. Pictures are appreciated!

Im kinda going with the same theme. Just a trick for the candles......use pvc instead of pool noodles.....they are strudier, last longer, have a smooth texture vs a pitted texture. Fill the centers with expanding foam (great stuff) and then cut out what you need to for the tea lights.

Love the idea but for something similarly sized wouldn't it be quite a bit more expensive? Also I don't think the pitted texture is very noticeable on the pool noodles in black but I would have to test it myself.

Are you making any of your other decorations?

I spent about $20 on pvc, its cheaper to buy the 10ft pieces and cut them down to size. For me personally the pitted texture bothers me. So I hunted down candalabras on Facebook marketplace this is what I'm doing with thoswGothic diy Ideas? 2

This is what I did for my card box. Gothic diy Ideas? 4
These are the centerpieces; more purchased items that I stuck together than DIY but I did glue the flowers on. Gothic diy Ideas? 5

So for the kind of waxy texture you used that expanding foam and then painted it? I love the blue, did you use spray paint foe that?

I made this pillow for the ring bearer and flowers and lace onto this lantern for the flower girl; the lace on the lantern and the pillow are made from my moms wedding dress.Gothic diy Ideas? 6

The waxy texture is hot glue; I got a dual temp hot glue gun and used the highest heat setting so its really runny and went around the tops and let it run/drip down. I did an average of 3 to 4 layers to get a really melted look. I then spray painted the entire thing black and once that dried I found "holographic" paints at joans. So you cant really tell in the picture but they change color as you move around them.

Ok heres a step by step since I was planning on workinfg on them today anyways. I am using a black pvc to show you since its easier to see but you can usw white as well. When making these think about how old/how long you want these to look like they have been burning. The more wax the older/longer they have been burning. Less wax is newer candles. Here is the inside filled with expanding foam (we will take care of the bump later).

First round of hot glue/wax. For this layer I usually work from the inside out so along the top of the pvc with the nose of my glue gun pointing out I put a big heavy ball of hot glue that will start at the top and run down. The bigger the ball of glue the further it will run Gothic diy Ideas? 12
Second layer of glue. I work on the outside and work top to bottom running lines of glue. Remember to make it organic/no straight lines. The thinker the line of glue the more it will run the thinner the less it will run and stay in placeGothic diy Ideas? 13
Third and final layer for this candle where I go through and fill in any holes I dont like and just add where I feel something needs added. Ok 9 more for me to go and then Im onto the next step

So here I scraped out the extra expanding foam to allow for the tea light to sit in the spot. Gothic diy Ideas? 15
This is optional but I then did a pool of hot glue over the foam to create a flat surface for the tea light to sit on. You can just use the foam by itself.

As a note I would double check spray paint if you go the pool noodle route. If memory serve spray paint can eat foam but you should be able to paint them with an acrylic paint with a brush.

Thank you. 🙂 The arch is one you can buy or used to be able to buy at Joans or Michaels but it came with white lights and its metal poles. Its about 8 feet tall put together (it barely fit in our living room lol). Its fairly easy to put together and take apart but its not the sturdiest. I had one previously that I had used for halloween so I was familiar with it. So once I put it together I added dowel rods to strength it and added 2×4 with holes drilled into them for the poles as feet. Once all of that was done I spray painted everything the color I wanted it to be. Then I took red and black tulle (my colors are red black and purple) and hot glued one end to a cross support piece and basically braided the tulle are the arch down both sides. I then added some white beaded string to pop and some purple flowers. At the back I hung some tulle and added strings of white fairy lights. I did everything in 3 parts. The 2 long legs and the arch. That way I can take it apart into 3 pieces for storage and travel. I just left some overhanging tulle to cover the gap. Gothic diy Ideas? 16
