Hello! If possible I could use some advice! My fiance is in graduate school and we are talking about when we could get married and he said the fall and spring during classes will just be too hard. His grad director said summer is going to be the best time (but ive heard summer 2021 is pretty booked up) So we’d have to wait until Summer 2022 (after he graduates, and we will also have to be looking at where i can get a job and where we will move to, so that will be busy) I’ve seen some posts about a wedding during the semester which we don’t want to do, but what about during Christmas break, like after Christmas and NYE, in January right before he starts the spring semester? We would take our HM after he graduates, but that wouldn't be as stressful during that time of change. I know there is no good time with grad school, but he is getting a phd so we cant wait until he is done with that! Any advice on that timing? I would appreciate it!

FH proposed the summer between us graduating from undergrad and him going to grad school. As much as it sucked, we decided to wait about two and a half years after he graduated to get married for several reasons. The first being, we didn't want him to be working full time, going to grad school, and be in full on planning mode. It just seemed like too much. Secondly was budget. Grad school is expensive, plus we bought a house, so waiting gave us longer to save. Lastly, the perfect date was in November of 2020. My favorite number is 11, his is 7, and we wanted a round number to make it easier to count anniversaries. 11/07/2020 happened to be a Saturday.

My fiance is in Medical School and literally gets no guarantees about days off until he graduates. Thus we planned our wedding to always be the Saturday after he graduates. We have a 1-month window about between when he graduates and when he has to be at his Residency Program, so we have always had a solid plan for the date. It also means that if we do it right after all of his friends will still be in town and we don't have to worry too much about long-distance traveling guests.

So my suggestion is to plan your wedding for a week or two after your partner graduates. It also allows us to do a Honeymoon right after our wedding. Am I a little nervous about him graduating, having a wedding, a honeymoon, and packing and moving within a month? A little, but I have 1.5 years to prepare and I am very very good at that.

    Best of Luck!
