Grand Exit From Wedding Ceremony

We are wanting to do a grand exit from our wedding ceremony because our reception is at a different location. What are the technicalities for it? We will walk back down the aisle but we will need time for everyone to line up on the steps of the church. Just trying to make sure it isn't awkward!

    Are you doing photos inside the Church? Some do couple, officiant & readers, wedding party, and family photos and this may take 15-30 minutes. Your other guests may leave to go to the reception venue.

    I can't say I've been to a wedding that has done this, but I'd imagine you two would walk down the aisle and go to a back room while guests line up outside, then you two exit. The pastor or maybe the photographer could make an announcement beforehand.
