I am extremely close to my grandmother on my mom's side so I asked her to be a reader. My grandmother on my dad's side was just a guest. I did however ask both if they wanted to get ready with me. Only my grandmother on my mom's side did. My other grandmother didn't want to arrive that early and thought the cost for hair and makeup was too much. My husband's grandparents are deceased.

You could do a Rose Ceremony for your Grandparents. Have your officiant explain your gratitude towards your Grandparents, then you hand them a rose symbolically. There's a lot of information about Rose Presentment on the internet.
