Great U.S. honeymoon ideas....for August?

Hmmm..I would say if you are a laid back couple who like relaxation with some fun squeezed in, gatlinburg, tn is a great place to go. You can find a romantic beautiful cabin for a low price and then if you wanna have a good time there is the Texas stampede (so fun!) an dollywood. There are also a lot of thrill places where you can do an imitation of bungee jumping (with a huge cushion at the bottom so it's a lot safer) etc. it's such a fun yet relaxing place. Wanted to do it for our honeymoon but didn't have the money to fly or the patience to drive from Florida. Lol

I had the same worry last year...I personally feel that anywhere south of Maryland is gonna be too hot for me to deal with in August unless I want to be cranky all the time--I HATE heat. We went to Newport, Rhode Island. Anyplace on the shore in the North East will probably be relatively cool--Maine, Massachusetts (looked into Cape Cod, etc and found it way too expensive), Mystic, Connecticut, etc. I wanted someplace within driving distance to cut down on cost and because I'm not a huge fan of flying. I've heard several co-workers rave about Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, too. We stayed in a great B&B in Newport and had a great time!
