Hi all, my FW is very much into conservation and would like our wedding to be as eco friendly as possible. Something we have discussed is forgoing paper STDs and invitations and putting all the budgeted money towards a wedding website and email invitations - I know it’s not as formal as paper invitations but it matters a lot to her. What are your thoughts on paperless invitations? tacky and informal or ok if we explain our reasoning and dedication to a green wedding on our website?

At least 2 of 3 were from paperless post.

I think the important thing is to know your guests! As we considerate it, we know our guests all have smart phones and are on email multiple times a day and potentially might prefer the accessibility of the digital invite. We only have few elderly guests, like our grandma’s, who will get an in person invite and will be relying on our parents to coordinate the details for them anyways. I might add that we already sent a mailed save the date in the form of magnet. We collected both mailing addresses and preferred emails via www.postable.com. We just need to decide which way to go but are definitely leaning digital since everyone has the physical save the date w/ wedding website on their fridge as a reminder!

I've seen seeded paper invitations, you can plant the invitation and flowers will grow! Such an awesome idea plus you could have people rsvp via email. Good luck!

Also if they end up in a landfill instead of being planted, they are bio degradable. They are also very pretty (but of course they cost more too) good luck!

I was thinking something like that, also, when you have them send back the rsvp you can make sure you do put it into recycling

Paperculture does all 100% recycled paper and plant a tree with each order if you decide to do invites. They are really beautiful.
Also a great article about an ecologically conscious wedding.
