Greenery on Wedding Cake

Aimee, on January 27, 2021 at 3:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Did anyone or is anyone planning on having greenery on their bridal cake?? What did or are you using for your cake? I am thinking about using artifical greenery, since it is near food. I don't want it to change the flavor of the cake, etc. I attached a picture of the plan for our cake. Our baker is wanting us to provide the greenery. Greenery on Wedding Cake 1

We plan on adding a few flowers to our cake. The best way is to contact your florist, tell them to add a few greenery pieces to your order. They will bring them and drop them off at the cake table for the cake delivery person to put on. That way the greenery matches your other flowers.

Talk to your florist or pick up something you like from Joann. Another option is to have it made from icing

This was our cake, it was all real, we used the greenery from the garlands we had on our tables. It didn’t taste any different to me

It's definitely fine to use real greenery/florals on a cake, if that's what you want. As long as you tell your florist it's for a cake, they will know to use non-toxic pieces and nothing that's dyed. If you use fake, I would make sure you can wash it somehow first. Fake flowers can be very dusty and could also bleed color into frosting.

Thank you so much for this! I didn't think about how fake flowers can do harm as well.

You could do fake since it’s something simple. What is the flavor of your cake?

The bottom tier is going to be chocolate with butter cream frosting, and the top tier is going to be vanilla cake with strawberry filling, and buttercream frosting.

Ooooh, could think about a little thyme , won’t change the flavor drastically, but you could always ask the baker what she suggests!

Artificial greenery is much more toxic than fresh. Let your florist know your plans and can prepare it for you.
