Greenery table runners ***Update found a possible solution***

PrettyWitty&Gay, on August 17, 2017 at 2:35 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

UPDATE: I very quickly may have found a solution, so for anyone with a similar question, check out Costco!

Yes, I know that I should have flowers sorted already since I am getting married in two months. Yes, I understand I am bad at this planning thing.

We're doing long tables in a very cool wood heavy old factory space. We both got hooked on the idea of greenery runners as centerpieces, but surprise surprise, were shocked at how expensive that is. We did some googling, and FW is convinced we can just buy a bunch of branches of stuff and lay them on the table. I think we're going to have to go garland to make it look nice and not have leaves travelling all over the tables.

Has anyone done greenery table runners before? Anyone DIY this? Did you get premade garlands or make them yourselves? If you made them yourselves, was it hard af? Any recommendations for cheap places to buy greens (either garlanded or loose)?

Try Sam's Club. They have beautiful garlands and I hear they are very good quality. I nearly went this route myself but was able to find a florist to meet my budget on this item. Good luck!

Although I have not personally done it, check out save-on-crafts.com. They have tons of garland and it looks real. Their shipping is kinda pricey so order everything at once Smiley smile

I almost bought the garlands from Sam's club too. I think they had some of the lowest prices out there.

eta - there are some sellers on etsy that have comparable prices too.

I did it for my wedding (like 20 plus years ago. You need to make garlands, which will take you longer than you think and cost more than you hope. I used lemon leaves and flat leave eucalyptus.

Thank you @Celia, I will relay this anecdote to my tight purse stringed no craft talent FW who thinks "can just make it!"

I just saw that Costco has 25ft for 80 bucks that can be delivered overnight the day of, and it appears cheaper than Sam's club

I have made greenery faux garlands several times just using branches. Overlap them to cover the butt ends and turn the last few branches the other way and hide the cut ends under the leaves. You can nestle in cylinder or votive candles, flowers in floral tubes of water- whatever you like.

Buy a few bunches of greens and play around with them. See what you can do. Garlands are expensive because they are labor intensive.
