Grocery Store Flowers....Just Do It!!!

Kasheena, on September 9, 2014 at 11:41 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

I just saved a bucket of money on my flower order! I ordered flowers for the entire bridal party, our parents, grandparents, officiant, hostesses, toss bouquet, ushers, and centerpieces for the sweetheart table and only paid $301!!!! The bouquet flowers are a mix of red roses and carnations, all the other flowers are red roses. You really save because they only charge you for the actual flowers, no labor charges are added on.

Kasheena - Where did you buy from? I'm almost certain that I will be getting grocery store flowers from my father's work friend. She used to work for a flower shop but now works at a grocery store that my dad works at. She works in the floral department. So she is going to buy the flowers from there, with her employee discount, put them together and add just a tiny amount to put them together. My sister got two bouquets, bouts and corsages for $105, including a $25 delivery charge since she was driving a far distance.

I got a floral estimate from Publix - they were so nice and really affordable but had no photos of their actual events which left me uneasy. Some people may be totally fine with that but I wasn't able to get past it.

    Good for you for saving!!

@FutureMrsM - Yes, all the arrangements will be fully assembled. All I have to do is pick them up because, they don't have delivery.

@Kimberly - I completely understand. Luckily, one of my coworkers used them for her wedding flowers so was able to see the quality of their work.

I didn't but I wish I had. My coworker got hers from Kroger and was so happy with them!

That's an awesome price!! We are using bulk flowers from Sam's Club for our centerpieces. I might check out a grocery store for our altar arrangements.

My friend used Central Market for her flowers, so I got a quote for them as well. All I am having flower wise is a my bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets, 5 bouts, and 12 simple centerpieces, and the total came to like $1,600 - that is MORE expensive than the quotes I got from actual flower shops. Maybe they were more expensive since they are Central Market, but maybe Kroger would have been cheaper.

Yay Kasheena! I was like Kimberly N. Got a good quote from Publix, but no pics and the quote took two weeks with no contact from their planner. Not a good feeling about that. I looked at Costco, but just didn't have the space to store them 2 days before the wedding.

Flower choices may also increase the prices. I picked roses and carnations instead of more exotic/expensive flowers because, I researched and found out they were more cost effective.

Go girl! I would have TOTALLY went the grocery store route if we were not doing silk flowers. =) Money saver!

This is really helpful. Ive been leaning towards Safeway (Tom Thumb in Tx) flowers for the wedding.

Don't forget to assign someone the task of picking up the flowers on your wedding day, delivering the bouquets & boutonnieres to the proper people (wherever they are), and setting up the centerpieces at the reception venue.

My aunt is growing all of our centerpiece flowers in pots. I'm definitely getting the flowers for my bouquet from Safeway. They'll be perfect!

I wish I had this option but with a DW I needed someone to handle the floral ordeal for convenience but glad some brides can take advantage of this. I would!

We went to Wegman's, but in the end it wasn't that much cheaper than a florist.
