Groom at the end of the shower

KTizzle, on March 11, 2015 at 3:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15

Just wondering if this is a standard thing in all areas of the country...

The groom shows up near the end of the shower to thank all the guests, and he is to come with a bouquet of flowers for his bride and the mothers.

FH will be doing that with my shower since that's the norm here, and we both love that tradition/etiquette anyway. Just curious to see if this is normal everywhere else too.

PS - I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!! I remember being anxious last year because I wanted to do things, but now it's so close there is essentially nothing on my to-do list that can be put off. I love it!

I only heard of this after getting engaged and reading all about weddings and traditions. I love the idea though. I told my mentee about this, shes MOH in her best friends weddings and she loves idea of the groom showing up. I think its really special in the areas where its not common, because no would be expecting to see him.

The groom just shows up to pack everything into the car.

I think my FH will come at the end to help pack up all the gifts and eat the food that is leftover!

In parts of our circle, the groom and his guys are there for the whole thing--the groomsmen usually end of shuttling to the bar to get drinks for the ladies.

I like the part about the flowers!

DH showed up at the end of one of mine. It was nice to see him (and help him put stuff in cars)

I've never heard of that!!! That's cute, mine came right in the middle of the shower, said hi to everyone, got tacos, and went home. He had drank too much by the end of my shower to help me get the gifts, so my dad did.

He decided since I'm having a party, he will too lol

@Shay - Well my ceremony is May 17th, but it's a private, family-only ceremony and then our reception, which is large and casual, will be June 20th.

Shower is Sat May 2, and the bachelorette party is that night.

I have only seen the groom at the very end of the shower (empty handed) to gather gifts to the car. If guests are still present then they have mingled a bit, and even grabbed a plate of food

It's common here too. I've been to quite a few that the groom is there for the majority too.

He didn't bring flowers but he did drop by and thanked everyone individually.

Interesting to see all the different ideas in different areas. There's something else I had never heard of - a tool party. My MOH asked if FH was having one, and I thought she was just trying to be funny and refer to the bachelor party as a "tool" party lol!!! Apparently it's like a groom's shower if there was such a thing. It's similar, but dude friends bring tools or something very manly and drink beer. I dunno. I kinda don't like that idea, but to each their own!

In my area, the groom usually shows up at the end of the shower with flowers for the bride and then loads everything into the car while the shower is being wrapped up.
